Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital is a federal government of Nigeria teaching hospital located in Nnewi, Anambra State, Anambra state. The current chief medical director is Joseph Ugboaja. History The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital was established by the Anambra State government edict number 10 of 1988 as the Anambra State University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Nnewi and shared premises with the then General Hospital, Nnewi. On 16 June 1990, the General Hospital merged with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital. It was then officially commissioned on 19 July 1991 by the then military governor, Robert Akonobi. The hospital was renamed by the federal government of Nigeria to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital through decree number 68 in 1992, in honour of Nnamdi Azikiwe. Nnewi is a commercial and industrial city in Anambra State, southeastern Nigeria. It is the second largest and second most populous city in the southern part of the country. The ''Nigerian Tribune'' is an English-language newspaper published in Ibadan, Nigeria. It was established in 1949 by Obafemi Awolowo and is the oldest running private Nigerian newspaper. In the colonial era, the newspaper served as the mouthpiece for Awolowo's populist welfare programmes. Robert Akonobi
Colonel (retired) Robert (Bob) Nnaemeka Akonobi was appointed military governor of Anambra State, Nigeria, from December 1987 to August 1990 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. On 27 June 1988, Akonobi reconstituted the board of Nigeria Mineral Water Industries, empowering it turn the company into a profitable private venture. In 1989, he established the Anambra State Oil Palm Development Agency. Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe, (16 November 1904 – 11 May 1996), usually referred to as "Zik", was a Nigerian statesman and political leader who served as the first President of Nigeria from 1963 to 1966. Considered a driving force behind the nation's independence, he came to be known as the "father of Nigerian Nationalism". Born to Igbo parents from Anambra State, Eastern Nigeria in Zungeru in present-day Niger State, as a young boy he learned to speak Hausa (the main indigenous language of the Northern Region). Azikiwe was later sent to live with his aunt and grandmother in Onitsha (his parental homeland), where he learned the Igbo language. ''Mucuna'' is a genus of around 100 accepted species of climbing lianas (vines) and shrubs of the family Fabaceae: tribe Phaseoleae, typically found in tropical forests. The leaves are trifoliolate, alternate, or spiraled, and the flowers are pea-like but larger, with distinctive curved petals, and occurring in racemes. Like other legumes, ''Mucuna'' plants bear pods. They are generally bat-pollinated and produce seeds that are buoyant sea-beans.
