''NASCAR RaceDay'' (also known as ''NASCAR RaceDay fueled by Sunoco'') is an American pre-race television show on Fox Sports 1 that precedes all NASCAR Cup Series race broadcasts. Part of the ''Fox NASCAR'' series, the show previously aired on Fox Sports Net and Speed. ''NASCAR RaceDay'' is hosted by Shannon Spake or Adam Alexander with analysis from Bobby Labonte and Jamie McMurray from the Fox Sports studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jimmy Spencer (racing Driver)
James Peter Spencer (born February 15, 1957) is an American former racing driver, team owner, and television commentator. He is best known for competing in NASCAR. He hosted the NASCAR-inspired talk show, ''What’s the Deal?'', on Speed, and was co-host, with John Roberts and Kenny Wallace, of Speed's pre-race and post-race NASCAR shows ''NASCAR RaceDay'' and ''NASCAR Victory Lane''. Before retiring, Spencer had a segment on Speed's ''NASCAR Race Hub'' offering commentary and answering viewer questions (on Tuesdays and Thursdays). During his days racing modifieds, he was nicknamed "Mr. Excitement" for his aggressive racing style. Spencer is one of the few drivers to have won a race in all three of NASCAR's top series: the NASCAR Cup Series, the Xfinity Series, and the Camping World Truck Series. John Roberts (sportscaster)
John Roberts (born October 2, 1965) is a former on-air broadcaster for NASCAR coverage on Speed Channel, which later became Fox Sports 1. He appeared on ''NASCAR Race Hub'' and '' NASCAR Live!'' and until 2014, he appeared on ''NASCAR RaceDay'' and ''NASCAR Victory Lane'', while also having served as a substitute studio host for ''NASCAR on Fox'' in 2012. He currently hosts Tradin’ Paint on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio. Career His career started in 1986 at WHSV TV in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He then worked at WBTV in Charlotte before moving to the Fox Network-owned Speed Channel to host ''NASCAR RaceDay'' and ''NASCAR Victory Lane''. In 2012, Roberts was the interim studio host for the 2012 Daytona 500, filling in for Chris Myers, who was on bereavement leave due to the death of his son. ''College GameDay'' (branded as ''ESPN College GameDay built by Home Depot, The Home Depot'' for sponsorship reasons) is a pre-game show broadcast by ESPN as part of the network's ESPN College Football, coverage of college football, broadcast on Saturday mornings during the college football season, prior to the start of games with a 12:00 pm ET kickoff. In its current form, the program is typically broadcast from the campus of the team hosting a featured game being played that day and features news and analysis of the day's upcoming games. It first aired in 1987 with Tim Brando as host and Lee Corso and Beano Cook as commentators, giving an overview of college football games. Steve Byrnes
Steven Patrick Byrnes (April 14, 1959 – April 21, 2015) was an American television announcer and producer. After graduating from college, he began his career as a sports producer, covering several NFL teams. In 1985, he began his involvement with auto racing, including most prominently NASCAR. In 2001, he began working with ''NASCAR on Fox'' as a pit reporter, and later became the host of Speed/Fox Sports 1's studio show ''NASCAR Race Hub''. In October 2014, Byrnes took a medical leave from Fox Sports after being diagnosed with a reoccurrence of head and neck cancer. He later died on April 21, 2015, at the age of 56 in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Chase For The Nextel Cup
The NASCAR playoffs is a championship Playoffs, playoff system used in NASCAR's three national series. The system was founded as 'The Chase for the Championship' on January 21, 2004, and was used exclusively in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2004 to 2015. Since 2016, NASCAR has also used the playoff system in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Camping World Truck Series. The NASCAR Cup Series version of the playoff system is often called the Chase for the Cup, and includes sixteen drivers that compete for the championship in the final ten races of the Cup Series. The first nine races are divided into three rounds, with four participants being eliminated after each round. The Xfinity Series Chase format is competed over seven races with twelve drivers.
