NAB – Navegação Aérea Brasileira was a Brazilian airline founded in 1938. In 1961 it was sold to Lóide Aéreo Nacional. History NAB was founded on January 28, 1938. The founder Paulo Venâncio da Rocha Vianna initially invested heavily in technical training for both land and air staff conducted particularly by TWA. Thus in the beginning NAB followed what was most modern in terms of aviation technology and administration at its time. Its first aircraft arrived in 1941 and operated between Rio de Janeiro and Recife via Belo Horizonte, Bom Jesus da Lapa and Petrolina. In order to operate the route NAB invested in upgrading the airport facilities of Bom Jesus da Lapa and Petrolina. Later NAB tried also to fly between Rio de Janeiro and Recife via the coast but it had no success due to the fierce competition with Serviços Aéreos Condor (later Cruzeiro do Sul) and Panair do Brasil. Lóide Aéreo Nacional S/A was a Brazilian airline founded in 1947 as Transporte Carga Aérea (TCA). It was renamed Lóide Aéreo Nacional in 1949, after it merged with Linhas Aéreas Paulistas (LAP) and Transportes Aéreos Bandeirantes (TABA). It operated until 1962 when it was incorporated into VASP. History On December 22, 1947, Ruy Vacani founded the airline TCA – Transportes Carga Aérea S.A. in Anápolis, State of Goiás, Brazil, an airline specialized in transportation of cargo. Previously, in 1928, Vacani had also founded ETA - Empresa de Transporte Aéreo an airline that lasted for only for one year, being sold to NYRBA do Brasil. Vacani had good political connections with the then president Getúlio Vargas, who apparently favored his business. Belo Horizonte/Pampulha – Carlos Drummond De Andrade Airport
Pampulha–Carlos Drummond de Andrade Airport is an airport serving Belo Horizonte, Brazil, located in the neighborhood of Pampulha. Since December 16, 2004 the airport is also named after the Minas Gerais-born poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade (1902–1987). The airport is operated by CCR. History Pampulha Airport was opened in 1933 as a support facility for the passenger flights operated by the Brazilian Air Force between Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza. The first commercial operation started in 1936, when Panair do Brasil was granted a concession to fly between Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. In 1943 the runway was extended to 1,500m x 45m, in 1953 to 1,700m, and finally in 1961 to 2,505m. With the great increase of traffic at Pampulha Airport, the facility became too small and unable to handle all operations. Montes Claros–Mário Ribeiro Airport is the airport serving the city of Montes Claros, Brazil. Since April 2, 2003, the airport is named after Mário Ribeiro (1924–1999), a local politician. It is operated by AENA. History The Montes Claros Airport was officially inaugurated on December 18, 1939. Panair do Brasil was the first airline to operate in the airport, with service to the cities of Belo Horizonte, Salvador, and Recife commencing in 1942. Montes Claros is a city located in northern Minas Gerais state, in Brazil. The population is 413,487 (2020 est.) in an area of . Presidente Castro Pinto International Airport is the airport serving João Pessoa, Brazil located in the adjoining municipality of Santa Rita.
