N6 Road (Gabon)
The N6 road is one of the national highways of Gabon. It connects the far south-west of the country at Mayumba to the centre at Lastoursville. Mayumba
Mayumba is a Vili- and Shira-speaking town of about 5,208 people on the Atlantic Ocean coast of Gabon, at the end of the N6 road, lying on a peninsula separated from the mainland by the Banio Lagoon. Description It is known for its long sandy beach where leatherback turtles nest. The most common ethnic groups are Vili, Lumbu, and Punu, and locals of Mayumba town call themselves 'Mayesiens'. It is home to an airport, several small restaurants, and a market. There are seven primary schools in the area, and one junior high school of about 500 students. Mayumba lies north of Mayumba National Park, the only national park in Gabon that is dedicated to the protection of marine species. Mayumba town is nestled among three small hills separating the lagoon from the ocean. Lastoursville
Lastoursville or Mandji is a city in east-central Gabon, lying on the Ogooué River, the Trans-Gabon Railway and the N3 road. It was founded as a slave depot named ''Mandji'', renamed ''Maadiville'' in 1883 and finally took its current name for François Rigail de Lastours in 1886. It grew around palm oil production and as an administrative centre, and soon became a major missionary centre. The town is also known for its caves. The town lies at an elevation of 206 m. Tchibanga
Tchibanga is a city in the Nyanga Province of southern Gabon, situated on the Nyanga River. It has an estimated population of 24,000 (2008). The town lies on the N6 road and is home to Tchibanga Airport and a market. It lies near the Ivela Falls. Tchibanga is the capital of the Nyanga province. Lébamba
Lébamba is a small town in south-western Gabon. It is the capital of Louetsi-Wano Department in Ngounié Province. It lies along the N6 road, 38.3 kilometres northeast of Ndendé. A Catholic Mission has long been established in Lébamba. Geography Lébamba is located in south-western Gabon, and in the southeast of Ngounié Province. Kanda and Moukoundou lie nearby to the northeast. The Ngounié River flows just to the west of the town and the Louetsi River is also nearby. The land between Lébamba and Mouila is mainly floodplain. Two kilometres from Lébamba are "massive underground cave networks", known as the Bongolo Caves or Malibé Caves. The caves lie at an altitude of 1150 metres. The Lekindou waterfall is also nearby.
