N23 Road (Belgium)
The N23 is a short national highway in the Brussels Capital Region, Belgium. It is one of the busiest roads within the capital with daily gridlock during the rush hours. The road consists originally of two separate sections that were once part of the European Route 5 (E5, now E40) through Brussels, separated by the small ring (N0/R20). It is the only highway in Belgium with two kilometer-zero points, one for the eastern branch and another for the western branch. As with all national roads and motorways, ownership was transferred to the regional government in the 1990s. The N23 road remains unsigned as signage within Brussels never shows any road numbers. N23 East The eastern branch has two separate roadways for each direction. The eastbound section begins at the Arts-Loi/Kunst-Wet intersection of the small ring and the N3 road, briefly following Boulevard du Regent/Regentlaan before travelling eastwards on Rue Belliard/Belliardstraat for about one kilometer. Just outside of t ...

Small Ring (Brussels)
The Small Ring (french: Petite Ceinture, nl, Kleine Ring) inner ring road, formally R20 and N0 is a series of roadways in central Brussels, Belgium, surrounding the historic city centre. The city centre is usually defined as the area within the Small Ring; this area is called the Pentagon due to its pentagonal shape. The pentagon forms the core of the City of Brussels municipality. The road was built on the site of the 14th-century second walls of Brussels, after they had been torn down. During the second stage of the covering of the Senne in the 20th century, the river was diverted to underneath the western boulevards of the ring. This freed up the main tunnels that had contained the water to allow construction of the Brussels premetro with minimal disruption of the surface. The Small Ring is about 8 km long. It is surrounded by the Greater Ring, which runs about 30 km and by the Ring (about 80 km). The road passes through tunnels allowing vehicles to avoi ...

Leopold Quarter
The Leopold Quarter (french: Quartier Léopold, Dutch: ) is a quarter of Brussels, Belgium. Today, the term is sometimes confused with the European Quarter, as the area has come to be dominated by the institutions of the European Union (EU) and organisations dealing with them, although the two terms are not in fact the same, with the Leopold Quarter being a smaller more specific district of the municipalities of the City of Brussels, Etterbeek, Ixelles and Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. The Leopold Quarter traditionally encompassed the area immediately south of the Small Ring (Brussels' inner ring road), between the Namur Gate and Louvain Gate. Today, it lies roughly between the ring road, Leopold Park, the /, and the /. The district was created in 1837, soon after Belgian Independence, as a prestigious residential area for the elite of the new Belgian capital, and was named after King Leopold I. It remained the most prestigious residential address in the capital until the early 20th ...
