N. Eramakrishnan
N. Ramakrishnan (born 30 July 1949) is an Indian politician and a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Cumbum constituency. He represents the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party and has previously represented the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK). N. Ramakrishnan was born on 30 July 1949 in Cumbum. He has a master's degree and is married with two children. N. Ramakrishnan was first elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Cumbum in 1989 as a DMK candidate. The seat changed hands in the 1991 elections and it was not until those of 2006 that he was re-elected, this time as a candidate for MDMK. He returned to the DMK and won the seat in a by-election in 2009, followed by success in the 2011 state elections. He lost to S. T. K. Jakkaiyan in 2016. The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It has a strength of 234 members of whom are democratically elected using the First-past-the-post voting, First-past-the-post system. The presiding officer of the Assembly is the List of Speakers of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Speaker. The term of the Assembly is five years unless dissolved earlier. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (; DMK) is a political party based in the state of Tamil Nadu where it is currently the ruling party having a comfortable majority without coalition support and the union territory of Puducherry where it is currently the main opposition. The Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam ( 'Renaissance Dravidian Progressive Federation') is a political party active in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry (union territory), Puducherry.
