N.U. Unruh
N. U. Unruh (born Andrew Chudy on June 9, 1957, in New York City, U.S.) is a German musician, experimental percussionist, and instruments inventor, probably best known for his work with German music group Einstürzende Neubauten. Biography In 1980, Unruh was a co-founder of the German band Einstürzende Neubauten, together with his school friend Blixa Bargeld. Both are still band members. Unruh usually plays self-constructed percussion instruments. In 2000, Unruh released a solo album, ''Euphorie im Zeitalter der digitalen Informationsübertragung'' ("Euphoria in the era of digital data transfer"). He is also a member of the band Bombus (not be confused with the Swedish band of the same name), which describes itself as "electronic dance music combined with drummers, performers, and DJs". Einstürzende Neubauten
(, 'Collapsing New Buildings') is a German experimental music group, formed in West Berlin in 1980. The group is currently composed of founding members Blixa Bargeld (lead vocals; guitar; keyboard) and N.U. Unruh (custom-made instruments; percussion; vocals), long-time contributor Alexander Hacke (bass; vocals), plus Jochen Arbeit (guitar; vocals), and Rudolf Moser (custom-built instruments; percussion; vocals), who both joined the line-up in 1997. One of their trademarks is the use of custom-built instruments, predominantly made out of scrap metal and building tools, and noises, in addition to standard musical instruments. Their early albums were unremittingly harsh, with Bargeld's vocals shouted and screamed above a din of banging and scraping metal percussion. An experimental musical instrument (or custom-made instrument) is a musical instrument that modifies or extends an existing instrument or class of instruments, or defines or creates a new class of instrument. Blixa Bargeld
Blixa Bargeld (born Christian Emmerich, 12 January 1959) is a German musician who has been the lead singer of the band Einstürzende Neubauten since its formation in 1980. Bargeld was also a founding member of the Australian rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, serving as a member from 1983 until his departure in 2003. Early life Bargeld left school prior to completion, and is self-taught. He experimented with audio equipment as a teenager, including the disassembling of tape recorders. The first album that he owned was by Pink Floyd, but he quickly moved on to German krautrock acts such as Kraftwerk, Neu! and Can, which he described as his biggest influences at the time. Bargeld is from the Tempelhof area of West Berlin and he moved out of his parents' home in the late 1970s. The dinoflagellates (Greek δῖνος ''dinos'' "whirling" and Latin ''flagellum'' "whip, scourge") are a monophyletic group of single-celled eukaryotes constituting the phylum Dinoflagellata and are usually considered algae.
