N. Lalitha Bhanu
Lalitha Bhanu was a Carnatic singer. She has also sung a few songs for Malayalam and Tamil films as a playback singer. Early life Lalitha was born at Trivandrum, Kerala, as the daughter of Narayana Bhagavathar and Parvathy ammal on 19 August 1931. Her father, Narayana Bhagavathar was a violinist and one of the three Trivandrum Brothers. The brothers were ''Asthana Vidwans'' (in-house musicians) at the Royal Palace of Trivandrum. She learnt her initial lessons from K. R. Kumaraswamy. Afterwards she joined the Swati Tirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer was the principal of this college. She received training directly from him. When the family moved from Trivandrum to Madras (now Chennai), Srinivasa Iyer directed her to Musiri Subramania Iyer. Mehboob (singer)
H. Mehboob ( ml, മെഹ്ബൂബ്; 1926–22 April 1981) was an Indian musician and playback singer. He was one of the most successful playback singers in the Malayalam film industry during the 1950s and early 1960s, with a good number of hit songs in his kitty. Biography Mehboob was born in Mattancherry, Kingdom of Cochin (now part of India), into a family beset with stark poverty. He spent his childhood in the nearby Bengal battalion military camp polishing shoes while his mother did cleaning jobs. At the camp Mehboob picked up different languages and songs from soldiers drawn from various parts of the country, some Britishers too. Kaviyoor Revamma
Kaviyoor C. K. Revamma (14 April 1930 in Kaviyoor – 13 May 2007 in Kollam) was a popular Carnatic vocalist. Revamma, who started learning Carnatic music at the age of eight, had her initiation into the career of a musician at Aruvipuram at the age of 16. After securing the first rank in BA and MA degree (music) examinations, she received her PhD in music from Kerala University. Revamma was the first to get PhD in music from Kerala University. Later, she lectured at the women's college in Thiruvananthapuram, where she became the head of the department of Music. Revamma also served as principal of the Thrissur Government College and retired as deputy director, Collegiate Education. Kamukara Purushothaman
Kamukara Purushothaman (4 December 1930 – 26 May 1995) was an Indian singer. He was a noted playback singer in Malayalam cinema during its early years. He has recorded over 170 songs in 68 movies in various South Indian languages. Early life Kamukara was born on 4 December 1930 in Thiruvattar in Kanyakumari district of present day Tamil Nadu. He was the son of Parameswara Kurup and Lekshmikkutty Amma. He started learning music from an early age under Karnatic music guru Thiruvattar Arumugham Pillai Bhagavathar, along with his sister, Leela Omchery, a known singer and musicologist. Thirunainar Kurichi Madhavan Nair
Thirunainar Kurichi Madhavan Nair (1916-1965) was an Indian poet, novelist and lyricist. He was also an employee of Travancore Radio Station in Trivandrum, which later got merged with All India Radio. He was very active in Malayalam films from 1951 to 1965 and has written over 300 film songs of which most were hits. Thirunainar Kurichi and music director Brother Lakshmanan were a hit duo during the 1950s and 60s. Thirunainar Kurichi has also written numerous poems dramas and novels in the 1950s and 1960s. Madhavan Nair was born at Thirunainarkurichi town near Velimala Murugan temple, which is around Colachel in Kanyakumari district of the present-day Tamil Nadu. ''Amma'' ( en, italic=yes, Mother) is a 1952 Malayalam film directed by Jairus Paul Victor, written by Nagavally R. S. Kurup and produced by T. E. Vasudevan. The film is based on L. V.
