Mário Lago
Mário Lago OMC ( November 26, 1911 — May 30, 2002) was a Brazilian lawyer, poet, broadcaster, composer and actor. In the 1940s and 1950s, he was known for composing popular samba songs, such as " Ai! que saudade da Amélia" and "Atire a primeira pedra", both in partnership with . Biography Lago was born in Rio de Janeiro, son of the maestro Antônio Lago and Francisca Maria Vicencia Croccia Lago, and grandson of the Italian anarchist and musician Giuseppe Croccia. He graduated in Law the Universidade do Brasil, in 1933, getting involved in political activism, and joining the Brazilian Communist Party, PCB. After graduation, Lago worked briefly as a lawyer. Because of his political beliefs, Lago was imprisoned seven times - 1932, 1941, 1946, 1949, 1952, 1964 and 1969. Ordem Do Mérito Cultural
The Ordem do Mérito Cultural is an honor bestowed by the Ministry of Culture to personalities, bodies both public and private, national and foreign, as a recognition of their contributions to Brazilian culture. The award was established bLaw No. 8313, 1991and regulated in 1995 by the Federal Government through Decree 1,711. The OMC is celebrated annually on November 5, in celebration of the National Culture Day. Luís Carlos Prestes
Luís Carlos Prestes (January 3, 1898 – March 7, 1990) was a Brazilian revolutionary and politician who served as the general-secretary of the Brazilian Communist Party from 1943 to 1980 and a senator for the Federal District from 1946 to 1948. One of the leading communists in Brazil, Prestes has been regarded by many as one of Brazil's most charismatic yet tragic figures for his leadership of the 1924 tenente revolt and his subsequent work with the Brazilian communist movement. Roberto Roberti
Vincenzo Leone (24 July 1879 – 10 January 1959), known professionally as Roberto Roberti, was an Italian actor, screenwriter and film director. He made over sixty films, mostly during the silent era. He was married to the actress Bice Valerian. Their son Sergio Leone became a celebrated director. During the 1910s Roberti made a number of films for the Turin-based Aquila Films, often featuring his wife in a leading role. Chocolate is a food made from roasted and ground cacao seed kernels that is available as a liquid, solid, or paste, either on its own or as a flavoring agent in other foods. Mário da Silveira Meireles Reis (31 December 1907 – 5 October 1981 in Rio de Janeiro), also known as Bacharel do Samba was a popular Brazilian samba singer, active between 1928 and 1971. He collaborated with artists such as Francisco Alves, Carmen Miranda, Aracy de Almeida and Noel Rosa and was particularly successful as a radio singer. Biography He graduated in Law and Social Sciences in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro Faculty of Law, attending the same classes of Ary Barroso (LLB, 1929). He recorded many hits with Carmen Miranda and Francisco Alves, with whom also performed frequently in the 1930s, all of which are regarded as amongst the finest Brazilian singers of this period. Carmen Miranda, (; born Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha, 9 February 1909 – 5 August 1955) was a Portuguese-born Brazilian samba singer, dancer, Broadway actress and film star who was active from the late 1920s onwards. Nicknamed "The Brazilian Bombshell", Miranda was known for her signature fruit hat outfit that she wore in her American films.
