Máiréad Nesbitt
Máiréad Nesbitt ( , ) is an Irish musician. She is known for performing Celtic and classical music and being the former fiddler for '' Celtic Woman''. She was also one of the two original fiddlers in Michael Flatley’s '' Lord of the Dance'' in the mid to late 1990s, along with its extended version '' Feet of Flames'' in the early 2000s. Background Nesbitt was born to John and Kathleen Nesbitt, both music teachers in Co.Tipperary, Ireland. She has a sister, Frances, and four brothers, Seán, Michael, Noel and Karl, all of whom are musicians. She has been a piano player since the age of four, and began playing the violin at age six. Loughmore, officially Loughmoe ( ; or ''Luachma''), is a village in County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The village is best known for Loughmoe Castle, seat of the Barons of Loughmoe. It is one half of the Ecclesiastical parish, parish of Loughmore-Castleiney in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly. Thurles (; ''Durlas Éile'') is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of the same name in the barony of Eliogarty and in the ecclesiastical parish of Thurles. ''Hibernia'' is the second solo album by Irish violinist Mairead Nesbitt. The album was recorded in 2016 at Windmill Lane Studios and Soundscape Studio in Dublin, Ireland, following Nesbitt's leave from Celtic Woman. It was produced by Nesbitt and Colm Ó Foghlú. The album is predominantly instrumental, featuring Nesbitt playing violin with the backing of an orchestra. Some of the tracks include percussive dancing. The track "To Bring Them Home" is the only track to feature vocals. The tracks are a blend of traditional Irish and classical styles "inspired by the music and dance from the southern province of Munster." ''Raining Up'' is Máiréad Nesbitt's solo musical album, which was recorded and published in 2001 by Vertical Records, UK. It was also released in North America 2006 under the label Manhattan. The musical CD contains a combination of traditional Irish, Scottish and newly composed Irish and contemporary tunes. Tracks were written by Máiréad and her brother Karl. The album was produced by Manus Lunny and Colm O'Foghlú. The album peaked on the Billboard World Music album chart at #12 in 2006. Michael Coleman (Irish Musician)
Michael Coleman (31 January 1891 – 4 January 1945) was a virtuoso Irish fiddler from County Sligo, and a major exponent of the Sligo fiddle style. Early years Michael Coleman was born in Knockgrania, in the rural Killavil district, near Ballymote, County Sligo, Ireland. His father, James Coleman, was from Banada in County Roscommon, and a respected flute player. Michael was the seventh child of James and Beatrice, and the surviving half of a pair of twins. As a child he learned step dancing and fiddle playing, and performed at local houses. His elder brother Jim had a high reputation but was never recorded. Emanuel Hurwitz (7 May 1919 – 19 November 2006) was a British violinist. He was born in London to parents of Russian-Jewish ancestry. He started playing the violin when he was five years old, and took up a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music at the age of 14; he was much later a professor there. During the Second World War he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps playing the violin in Stars in Battledress. In 1946, he founded the Hurwitz String Quartet.
