Mylapra
Mylapra is a village in Pathanamthitta district in the Indian state of Kerala. It comes under the Mylapra Panchayath. It is on the way to the famous Hindu pilgrim center of Sabarimala. The Main Eastern Highway (Punalur– Pathanamthitta–Muvattupuzha Road/SH-08) passes through Mylapra. Etymology The word ''mylapra'' is derived from two Malayalam words ''myle'' (a peacock) and ''appuram'' (the other side). It is believed that a hunter used a sword to kill a peacock but the peacock escaped narrowly and fell on one side and the sword hit the other. This was the birth of the names of two places, viz Mylapra and Vettipuram. "Myle (peacock) appuram (that side), Vett (cut) ipuram (this side). Sacred Heart Malankara Catholic Church, Mylapra
Sacred Heart Malankara Syrian Catholic Church or referred as ''S H Church'' is located in the village of Mylapra, near Pathanamthitta, on the road side of the Main Eastern Highway in the Indian state of Kerala. It is home to one of the first Syro-Malankara Catholic Church communities and is the biggest and oldest established church in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy of Pathanamthitta, Eparchy of Pathanamthitta. This church is the patron of two schools, Mount Bethany EHSS and S H Higher Secondary School. History Soon after the reunion movement in 1930 by Mar Ivanios, Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios, about five families from Mylapra reached Thirumoolapuram and behold the Catholic Faith in the presence of Jacob Mar Theophilos. Mount Bethany EHSS
Mount Bethany English Medium Higher Secondary School or Kerala, India. The school began providing education to lower primary level classes in the late 1970s. Pathanamthitta District (), is one of the 14 districts in the Indian state of Kerala. The district headquarters is in the town of Pathanamthitta. There are four municipalities in Pathanamthitta: Adoor, Pandalam, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvalla. According to the 2011 Census of India, the population was 1,197,412, making it the third least populous district in Kerala (out of 14), after Wayanad and Idukki. Pathanamthitta (), is a municipality situated in the Central Travancore region in the state of Kerala, India, spread over an area of 23.50 km2. It is the administrative capital of Pathanamthitta district. The town has a population of 37,538. Punalur is a Municipality in Kollam district of Kerala State in India. It is the headquarter of the Punalur Taluk and Punalur Revenue Division. State Bank of Travancore (SBT) was a major Indian bank headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and was a major associate of State Bank of India. The Bethany Ashram
Bethany Ashram , Perunadu , Ranni is the first Ashram of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church . It was established by P.T.Geevarghese, later Archbishop Ivanios and Alexios, later Alexios Thevodosios. The Ashram follows the religious order called Order of the Imitation of Christ (O.I.C.). Foundation of the ashram At Serampore, P.T. Geevarghese had more time for prayer and contemplation. He came across the writings of St. Basil on monasticism. The Basilian monastic vision had a great influence on him. Peacock
Peafowl is a common name for three bird species in the genera ''Pavo (genus), Pavo'' and ''Afropavo'' within the tribe Pavonini of the family Phasianidae, the pheasants and their allies. Male peafowl are referred to as peacocks, and female peafowl are referred to as peahens, although peafowl of either sex are often referred to colloquialism, colloquially as "peacocks." Muvattupuzha
Muvattupuzha () is a town in the midlands directly to the east of Kochi in Ernakulam district, Kerala, India. It is located about from downtown Kochi, and is a growing urban centre in central Kerala. The town is also the starting point of the Muvattupuzhayar (Muvattupuzha river), which is a confluence formed by three rivers: the Thodupuzhayar, Kaliyar, and Kothayar. Muvattupuzha is bordered by the Kottayam district on the southern side and the Idukki district on the eastern side.
