Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards
The Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards are presented annually to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Burmese Film Industry of Myanmar. The awards ceremony has been held annually since 1952. Each winner is presented with a golden statue and in recent years also a cash prize. History The awards were first introduced in 1952, and the ceremony has been held annually since 1952 (apart from 1963, 1986, 1987, and 1988). In the first awards ceremony, only three kinds of awards (Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress) were presented. In the beginning, second and third place prizes for Best Film category were also given. Over time the awards ceremony has expanded significantly; in 1954, a Best Director award was introduced with the second and third place prizes for Best Film being removed in 1955. Kyaw Kyaw Bo
Kyaw Kyaw Bo ( my, ကျော်ကျော်ဗိုလ်; born 17 April 1978) is a Myanmar Academy Award winning Burmese actor, singer, traditional dancer and sometime comedian with the Burmese traditional anyeint troupe Htawara Hninzi. He won the 2018 Myanmar Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor with the film '' Clinging with Hate''. Moht Moht Myint Aung ( my, မို့မို့မြင့်အောင် , also Moh Moh Myint Aung) is a five-time Myanmar Academy Award winning Burmese film actress, best known for her leading lady roles in several Burmese films from the 1980s to the 2000s. Wyne (Own Creator) ( my, ဝိုင်း; born Tun Zaw Win on 22 December 1973) is a film director and screenwriter of Burmese cinema. His career began as a supporting actor in Burmese films. He gained success as a director in the early days of his career by directing music videos. He is best known for directing the short film ''Ban that Scene''. Biography Wyne entered the film industry immediately after completing his matriculation exams in 1991. He started his career as a supporting actor in Burmese films. Kyaw Hein
Kyaw Hein (, ; born Kyaw Htay, 14 July 1947 – 11 July 2020) was a Burmese actor, film director and singer. He is the five-time winner of the Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards. He starred in and directed hundreds of films, and was considered one of the most important actors in Burmese cinema. He retired in 2008, and became a Theravada Buddhist monk, with the Dharma name (ကိတ္တိသာရ). He died as a monk on July 11, 2020 in Canberra, Australia. Sin Yaw Mg Mg or Zinyaw Maung Maung is Burmese film director and film producer. His 2004 film Hlyo-hwat-thaw-hnin or Mystery of Snow was released internationally. Biography His real name is U Lyn Aung. He is son of U Kan Htoo and Daw Khin Ti. He lived at No. 6-A, Myaynigone Plaza, Bargayar Street, Sanchaung Township, Yangon, Myanmar, near the Dagon Center. Thukha
Thukha ( my, သုခ, ; 14 January 1910 – 7 December 2005) was a six-time Burmese Academy Award winning film director, writer, song writer, script writer, film actor and film producer. His film production company, Thukha Films Company, won Best Picture Award for twice. Thukha directed 33 films and is considered the most successful Burmese film director. Biography Born Thein Maung in the Irrawaddy delta in British Burma, Thukha began writing poems as a middle school student. He became familiar with classical Burmese music at an early age thanks to his grandfather, a harpist. Thukha studied at Kyaiklat and Pyapon National Schools.
