It features vocals from fellow contemporary R&B group Trina & Tamara. The song samples "It's Been a Long Time" by New Birth (band), The New Birth; and it was the group's list of 1990s one-hit wonders in the United States, only hit on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at #4 in 1997. It also reached #1 on the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Rhythmic (chart), Rhythmic Top 40 chart. The single was RIAA certification, certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA on December 17, 1997. Somethin' for the People was a contemporary R&B group from Oakland, California, who scored several hits in the US in the late 1990s. History The group was founded in 1990 by Curtis "Sauce" Wilson and Jeff "Fuzzy" Young, both from Oakland, California, along with Los Angeles native Rochad "Cat Daddy" Holiday. The group recorded demos and shopped them around Los Angeles, and signed with Capitol Records, who released their debut in 1993. The song 'Take it Easy', which was first written for SWV was covered by R&B singer Joyce Wrice 20 years later.
