The Muslim Council for Cooperation in Europe (MCCE) is a representative body of European citizens of Muslim faith before the EU administration for advice, representation and intra-European collaboration. Historical background In 1996, in Strasbourg is constituted the Muslim Council for Cooperation in Europe, being among its members: The Strasbourg Mosque (France), Central Council of Muslims in Germany (ZMD), the Supreme Council of Muslims in Belgium (CSMB) of the Muslim Executive of Belgium, the Union of Islamic Communities of Spain (UCIDE) of the Islamic Commission of Spain, the mosque Adda'wa Paris (France) and the Italian Islamic Religious Community (COREIS). In 1997, the MCCE has joined the initiative "A Soul for Europe" in the framework of "Dialogue with religions, churches and humanism" as part of the Group of Policy Advisors in the European Commission. Strasbourg Mosque
The Strasbourg Mosque or Great Mosque of Strasbourg (french: Grande Mosquée de Strasbourg) is a large purpose-built Islamic mosque in the French city of Strasbourg. It is located on the banks of the Ill river in the Heyritz area, south of the Grande Île. It was inaugurated in September 2012 and has a capacity of 1,200 people. The mosque is frequented by Muslims of North Africa, mainly Moroccan origin. It hosts many conferences and seminars and has an extensive teaching programme for school-aged children. The former mosque, in use from 1982 to 2012, consisted of a converted foie gras factory in the Impasse de mai in the centre of Strasbourg, near the law-courts. The Muslim Executive of Belgium ( nl, De Moslimexecutieve; french: L'Exécutif des musulmans de Belgique) is the official Muslim interlocutor of the Belgian federal government for the implementation of the July 19, 1974 law recognizing Islam as one of the subsidized religious or secular communities in Belgium according to the law of March 4, 1870. The Union of Islamic Communities of Spain (UCIDE; es, 1=Unión de Comunidades Islámicas de España) is a religious organization with seat centered in Madrid. It is supported by Spanish Islamic religious communities. UCIDE is registered in the Registry of Religious Entities at the Spanish Ministry of Presidency and has a cooperation agreement in force with the Community of Madrid.
