Music from Memory is an independent record label based in Amsterdam, founded in 2013 by Abel Nagengast, Jamie Tiller and Tako Reyenga. The label started as a reissue label, but has since then released music by contemporary artists. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. Vito Ricci
Vito Ricci (born 1947) is a Canadian-born American composer. Early life Ricci was born in Canada and adopted by Italian-American parents. Career Ricci started out as a percussionist, studying with Ornette Coleman and playing with avant-garde jazz musicians like Rashied Ali and Byard Lancaster. In 1985, Ricci self-released the Ambient music, ambient album ''Music from Memory'', which later became the namesake for the Dutch reissue label of Music from Memory, the same name. Selections from the album, along with unreleased material, was reissued in 2015 by the aforementioned label, on the compilation album ''I Was Crossing a Bridge''. He wrote ''Partitas'' (1988) for the Kronos Quartet. The Vinyl Factory is a large music company based in London, United Kingdom. It includes a record label, vinyl pressing plant, and a venue space. It also publishes ''Fact'' magazine and owns Phonica Records store. Overview The Vinyl Factory began as a pressing plant in 2001 after purchasing the manufacturing equipment from EMI. Gaussian Curve (band)
Gaussian Curve is an Ambient music, ambient group formed in Amsterdam in 2014. It consists of Italian musician Gigi Masin, Scottish musician Jonny Nash and Dutch musician Marco Sterk. History The members of the group first met in Amsterdam in November 2013, and held a short impromptu jam session in Sterk's studio. Tako Reyenga of Music from Memory encouraged the three musicians to record further. The band recorded the album ''Clouds (Gaussian Curve album), Clouds'' in two days in March 2014. ''Clouds'' was followed up by another album, ''The Distance'', released in 2017. The album was recorded during four days in October 2016. Gigi Masin
Gigi Masin (born October 24, 1955) is an Italian composer, ambient musician and producer from Venice. He is best known for his 1986 LP ''Wind'' and as a member of Gaussian Curve, a trio with Jonny Nash and Young Marco. A member of Italy's underground electronic scene, Masin pressed ''Wind'' privately and only released it at a series of small concerts in 1986. Most of the remaining copies were destroyed when Masin's house was flooded. However, it became a cult item after being sampled by artists such as Björk and Nujabes, leading to a revival of interest in Masin's work. Music from Memory released the compilation '' Talk to the Sea'' in 2014, and the following year Masin reissued ''Wind'' on his own label The Bear on the Moon. Kuniyuki Takahashi (often best known simply as Kuni or Kuniyuki) is a Japanese DJ and music producer, sound engineer from Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. He records under many different aliases depending on the style of music he is producing, including Forth (dub techno/acid house), Frr Hive (downtempo/drum n' bass), Koss (for techno).
