Mushtaq Ahmad (Lord Lieutenant)
Mushtaq Ahmad is a Scottish Labour Party politician who served as the Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire from 2010 until 2017. Biography Ahmad was born in 1942 in British India where he grew up in the city of Lahore. He graduated from the University of Punjab in Pakistan. In 1963, he came to Scotland from Pakistan to study for an MA at the University of Glasgow. He undertook teacher training at Jordanhill College, and went on to teach economics in Scotland and then East London. Returning to Scotland, he organised an adult education programme for 17 years. Ahmad served as a Labour councillor in Hamilton District Council and then South Lanarkshire Council, and was Provost of South Lanarkshire from 2003 to 2007. He was the first Asian to serve as Provost of a Scottish council. He was awarded an OBE in the 2008 New Year Honours. Mushtaq Ahmad (field Hockey, Born 1932)
Mushtaq Ahmad (28 August 1932 – 23 April 2011) was a field hockey striker from Pakistan. He was born in Amritsar, India. He won the gold medal in 1960 Summer Olympics. He scored against Australia in the first match of the Games. After the Olympics he was granted a transferral along with his family to move to the United Kingdom. Mushtaq Ahmed Malik ( مشتاق احمد گجر ; born 28 June 1970) is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer who currently acts as the spin bowling coach for the Pakistan Cricket Team. A leg break googly bowler, at his peak he was described as being one of the best three wrist-spinners in the world. In an international career that spanned from 1990 until 2003, he claimed 185 wickets in Test cricket and 161 in One Day Internationals. He was at his most prolific internationally between 1995 and 1998, but his most successful years were as a domestic player for Sussex in the early 2000s. Mushtaq was part of the Pakistan team that won the 1992 Cricket World Cup, and five years later, he was named as one of the ''Wisden'' Cricketers of the Year. During his time with Sussex, he was the leading wicket-taker in the County Championship for five successive seasons, and helped the county win the competition in 2003, 2006 and 2007. Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad (also spelled Khandakar Mushtaq Ahmed; – 5 March 1996) was a Bangladeshi politician. He was the President of Bangladesh from 15 August to 6 November 1975, after the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was part of the conspiracy that brought about the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 15 August 1975. He took on the role of president immediately after the assassination, praised the assassins as "sons of the sun" and put cabinet ministers loyal to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in jail. Background Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad was born between 1918 and 1919, into a Bengali Muslim family in the village of Dashpara in Daudkandi, Comilla (formerly District of Tippera).
