Museum Biberach
The Museum Biberach is a museum with several sections in Biberach an der Riss in Upper Swabia. The museum resides in one of the oldest and biggest buildings from the 16th century in this city. It belongs to the considerable collections in Baden-Württemberg. On 2.800 square meters it presents archaeology, history, art and natural history. Models, all sorts of installations, and computer animations explain the origin and settlement of the Upper Swabian landscape. The collections reveal the life and the terms of employment of the people, such as the notable weaving in the town since the 17th century. Prominent pieces of art from former times until the present enrich the knowledge of the visitors. Woodcut
Woodcut is a relief printing technique in printmaking. An artist carves an image into the surface of a block of wood—typically with gouges—leaving the printing parts level with the surface while removing the non-printing parts. Areas that the artist cuts away carry no ink, while characters or images at surface level carry the ink to produce the print. The block is cut along the wood grain (unlike wood engraving, where the block is cut in the end-grain). The surface is covered with ink by rolling over the surface with an ink-covered roller (brayer), leaving ink upon the flat surface but not in the non-printing areas. ''Tin Toy'' is a 1988 American computer-animated short film produced by Pixar and directed by John Lasseter. Johann Baptist Pflug
Johann Baptist Pflug (13 February 1785, Biberach an der Riss - 30 May 1866, Biberach an der Riß) was a German genre painter. Life At the age of twelve, after attending the local elementary school, he became a choirboy at the local monastery where he continued his education and received his first drawing lessons. When the monastery closed, the fathers recommended that he become a church painter. Johann Franz Schefold (1750-1828), a lawyer whose father was a church painter, acted as a sort of patron to Pflug, allowing him access to his library and gallery. In 1806, he went to the Academy of Fine Arts Munich where he studied under Johann Christian von Mannlich, whose instruction consisted largely of having him make copies of the Dutch Masters. Johann Heinrich Schönfeld
Johann Heinrich Schönfeld (1609–1684) was a German painter in the Baroque style. Biography He was the son of Johann Baptist Schönfeld (?-1635); a goldsmith. From birth, he was blind in his left eye and could only use his right hand for simple tasks, so he was not trained as a goldsmith, as would have otherwise been the case. Instead, he received lessons in painting from in Memmingen. Later, he took study trips to Stuttgart and Basel. In 1633, at the height of the Thirty Years' War, he fled to Italy.
