Muscats Motors
The Muscats Motors showroom, belonging to a car dealership of the same name, is a building located in Gżira, Malta. It was designed by Joseph Colombo in the Streamline Moderne style, and it is the only building of that style in Malta. It was constructed in around 1945 on the site of an earlier garage which had been destroyed in World War II. Today, the building is in good condition and it still serves its original purpose as a showroom. History The Muscats Motors showroom stands on the site of the Muscat Garage, which was built by the Muscat family in 1934. This was designed by the architect Silvio Mercieca and it was built in a restrained form of Art Deco. In World War II, the building was used as a service and repair workshop for British military vehicles and equipment, including Supermarine Spitfire engines. The Muscat family of grapes includes over 200 grape varieties belonging to the ''Vitis vinifera'' species that have been used in wine production and as raisin and table grapes around the globe for many centuries.
