Murray Kellam
Murray Byron Kellam was formerly a judge of the County Court of Victoria in Australia before being appointed as a judge on 28 January 1998 to the Supreme Court of Victoria, the highest ranking court in the Australian State of Victoria. He was also the first President of VCAT. On 16 May 2007 Kellam was appointed a judge of Appeal. He retired from the Supreme Court on 15 June 2009. Kellam also served as a member of the Supreme Court of Samoa. He was appointed an Acting Judge of the Supreme Court of the ACT on 8 March 2017. In 2005, Kellam was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for his contributions to the law, and for his support of disadvantaged people in Thailand and Melbourne. Kellam was appointed as chief of the Tasmanian Integrity Commission from 2010 to 2015. County Court Of Victoria
The County Court of Victoria is the intermediate court in the Australian state of Victoria. It is equivalent to district courts in the other states. The County Court is the principal trial court in the state, having a broad criminal and civil jurisdiction. The court hears indictable offences (with the exception of murder, manslaughter, and treason), and has unlimited civil jurisdiction, though it generally only hears cases where the statement of claim exceeds the Magistrates' Court limit of $100,000. The court also possesses appellate jurisdiction for cases from the Magistrates' Court, while decisions of the County Court may be appealed to the Supreme Court. National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee
The National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council (NADRAC) was an Australian independent body that provided policy advice about alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to the Attorney-General of Australia. NADRAC was established in October 1995 and concluded in late 2013. NADRAC's functions were laid down by its charter. NADRAC was an independent non-statutory body, with funding provided through the Australian Government Attorney-General's Department. It provided expert policy advice to the Attorney-General on the development of ADR and promoted the use of alternative dispute resolution. The body concluded its work following the government decision to simplify and streamline government business. Victorian Bar
The Victorian Bar is the bar association of the Australian State of Victoria. The current President of the Bar is Roisin Annesley KC. Its members are barristers registered to practice in Victoria. On 30 June 2020, there were 2,179 counsels practising as members of the Victorian Bar. Those who have been admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Victoria, are eligible to join the Victorian Bar after sitting an entrance exam and completing a Bar readers' course. The Victorian Bar is affiliated with the Australian Bar Association and is a member of the Law Council of Australia. The first association of barristers in Victoria was formed in 1884, although the first barristers admitted to practice in Victoria were appointed in 1841.
