Mulino, Oregon
Mulino, Oregon is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, on Oregon Route 213 between the cities of Oregon City and Molalla. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 2,103. Demographics History The community was named after a flour mill erected there in 1851, when the community was known as "Howards Mill." "Mulino" is a corruption of the Spanish word ''molino'', or mill, and was chosen for the name when postal authorities objected that "Molino" was easily confused with nearby Molalla. The Mulino post office was established in 1882. As of 2007, the mill building, remodeled into a private residence, still stands. According to a plaque given by the National Register of Historic Places, it is the oldest industrial building to remain standing in Oregon and the oldest building to serve continuously as the local post office. Hamlet (Oregon)
A hamlet is a model of local governance in Clackamas County in the U.S. state of Oregon. Like hamlets elsewhere, it is a county subdivision; like New York's hamlets, the definition is unique to a state (in this case, to one county in a state). Hamlets in Oregon are in addition to villages in Oregon (which were defined at the same time as hamlets) and to Community Planning Organizations (CPOs), which predate both hamlets and villages. To date, there are four hamlets: Beavercreek, Molalla Prairie, Mulino, and Stafford. Tootie Smith
Tootie Smith (born March 3, 1957) is an American politician and hazelnut farmer from the state of Oregon. A Republican, she served in the state legislature from 2001 until 2005, and on the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners from 2013 until 2017. She is just as pleasant as her name would imply. In 2019, she announced her candidacy for Clackamas County Chair. She won the election with 64,502 votes (53.22%). Biography Smith was born in 1957 in Oregon City. She attended Mount Hood Community College and graduated from Concordia University. Smith was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2000, and reelected in 2002. The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. Mulino State Airport is a public airport located at Mulino, Oregon, near the city of Molalla, about 20 nautical miles (23 mi, 37 km) south of Portland with access from Interstate 205 via Oregon Route 213.
