Muay Thai Chaiya
''Muay Thai Chaiya'' or ''Chaiya'' ( th, ไชยา) is a 2007 Thai drama film about two talented muay Thai boxers, boyhood friends whose lives take divergent paths after they arrive in Bangkok. The film is the solo directorial debut by Kongkiat Khomsiri, who had previously been among seven directors on ''Art of the Devil 2'', and had written the screenplay for ''The Unseeable''. It premiered as the closing film at the 2007 Bangkok International Film Festival, and opened in wide release in Thailand cinemas on August 30, 2007. Plot Growing up in Chaiya, Surat Thani Province, three boys, Piak, Pao and Samor, are followers of Pao's brother, Krang (Prawit Kittichanthira), a legendary Muay Thai fighter who is taught by Pao's father, Tew (Samart Payakaroon). After an accident partially cripples Samor, Piak and Pao train as boxers under Tew, who teaches them the Muay Chaiya style, but the boxing school is broken up when Tew and Krang are recruited to a gym in Bangkok. Kongkiat Khomsiri
Kongkiat "Kome" Komesiri ( th, ก้องเกียรติ โขมศิริ, born 2 June 1975, in Thailand) is a Thai film director and screenwriter. Film career He graduated from the Faculty of Mass Communications at Bangkok University and started his career as a crew member on '' Mysterious Object at Noon'', the first feature film by Apichatpong Weerasethakul. He then went to work for Five Star Production, working with director Thanit Jitnukul on the films '' Bang Rajan'' and '' Kunpan: Legend of the Warlord''. He made his directorial debut in 2005 with ''Art of the Devil 2'', credited as part of the seven-member "Ronin Team" of directors. His solo directorial debut was '' Muay Thai Chaiya'' in 2007. Rajadamnern Stadium ( th, สนามมวยราชดำเนิน; ), also spelled ''Ratchadamnoen'', is a sporting arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Along with Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Rajadamnern is one of the two main stadiums for modern muay Thai. It hosts fights every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. The stadium has its own ranking system and championship titles up to middleweight (160 lbs). History In 1941, the prime minister of Thailand, Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram, gave orders to build a national boxing stadium on Rajadamnern Avenue. Wisit Sasanatieng ( th, วิศิษฏ์ ศาสนเที่ยง; ; born June 28, 1963) is a Thai film director and screenwriter of Chinese descent. Best known for his colourful debut feature film, ''Tears of the Black Tiger'', he is among a " New Wave" of Thai directors that include Nonzee Nimibutr and Pen-Ek Ratanaruang. Biography Early career Wisit studied at the Faculty of Decorative Arts at Silpakorn University, where he was a classmate of Nonzee Nimibutr and set designer Ek Lemchuen.
