Moussa Benhamadi
Moussa Benhamadi (4 January 1953 – 17 July 2020) was an Algerian politician and researcher. He was a member of the National Liberation Front (FLN). Biography Benhamadi commenced his career as a computer engineer and researcher in information systems and networks. In 1985, he founded the Centre de recherche sur l'information scientifique et technique, which became the first internet provider of Algeria in 1993. He headed the center until 2002, when he was elected into the People's National Assembly, representing Bordj Bou Arréridj. In 2008, Benhamadi became CEO of Algérie Télécom, a position he held for two years. From 2010 to 2012, he served as Minister of Communication. His brother, Abderrahmane, directed Groupe Benhamadi Antar Trade-Condor, the family's telecommunications company. Benhamadi was arrested during the 2019 protests on 18 September. People's National Assembly
The People's National Assembly ( ar, المجلس الشعبي الوطني, al-Majlis al-Sha'abi al-Watani; ber, Asqamu Aɣerfan Aɣelnaw; french: Assemblée populaire nationale), abbreviated APN, is the lower house of the Algerian Parliament. It is composed of 407 members directly elected by the population. Of the 407 seats, 8 are reserved for Algerians living abroad. Members of the People's National Assembly are directly elected through proportional representation in multiple-member districts and serve terms lasting five years at a time. The last election for this body was held on 12 June 2021. The minimum age for election to the Assembly is 28. Abdelaziz Bouteflika
Abdelaziz Bouteflika (; ar, عبد العزيز بوتفليقة, ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz Būtaflīqa ; 2 March 1937 – 17 September 2021) was an Algerian politician and diplomat who served as President of Algeria from 1999 to his resignation in 2019. Before his stint as an Algerian politician, Bouteflika served during the Algerian War as a member of the National Liberation Front. After Algeria gained its independence from France, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1963 until 1979. He served as President of the United Nations General Assembly during the 1974–1975 session. In 1983 he was convicted of stealing millions of dinars from Algerian embassies during his diplomatic career. In 1999, Bouteflika was elected president of Algeria in a landslide victory. Youcef Yousfi ( ar, يوسف اليوسفي) (born 2 October 1941) is an Algerian politician who has been Minister of Energy and Mines between 2010 and 2015. He briefly served as Acting Prime Minister of Algeria in March–April 2014. Yousfi was Algeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2006 to 2008. Early life and education Born in Batna, Yousfi graduated from the ''École nationale supérieure des industries chimiques'' (National School of Chemical Engineering) in France, and obtained a PhD in physics from the '' Université de Nancy''. The National Liberation Front ( ar, جبهة التحرير الوطني ''Jabhatu l-Taḥrīri l-Waṭanī''; french: Front de libération nationale, FLN) is a nationalist political party in Algeria. It was the principal nationalist movement during the Algerian War and the sole legal and ruling political party of the Algerian state until other parties were legalised in 1989.
