Mount Nonotuck, , is the northernmost peak of the Mount Tom Range of traprock mountains located in the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts and part of the larger Metacomet Ridge which stretches from Long Island Sound to nearly the Vermont border. The Mount Tom Range is a traprock mountain range located in the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts. Scree is a collection of broken rock fragments at the base of a cliff or other steep rocky mass that has accumulated through periodic rockfall. In geology, a rift is a linear zone where the lithosphere is being pulled apart and is an example of extensional tectonics.
