Mount Egerton, Victoria
Mount Egerton is a historic gold mining town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the mountain by the same name in the Shire of Moorabool local government area, north west of the state capital, Melbourne. At the , Mount Egerton had a population of 582. It was named after settler George Egerton. The town's main street is Main Road which consists of the historic gold mine and battery, general store (now closed), and hall. The town also contains a primary school and recreational reserve. History George Egerton held approximately 35,000 acres of stock farming land in 1838 which to outsiders was known simply as "Egerton's run". The discovery of gold in 1853 by Alexander Russell and George Grell saw a gold rush in 1854 as placer mining took place along All Nations Gully and West Gully. Electoral District Of Eureka
The Electoral district of Eureka is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in the redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2021, and came into effect at the 2022 Victorian state election. It largely covers the area of the abolished district of Buninyong, covering the east and southeast suburbs of Ballarat, including the suburbs of Eureka, Brown Hill, Ballarat East, Golden Point, Canadian, Mount Pleasant, Mount Clear, Mount Helen and Buninyong. It also covers large parts of the Golden Plains Shire and Moorabool Shire areas, including the towns of Ballan, Bacchus Marsh, Meredith, Lethbridge, Teesdale and Inverleigh. The abolished seat of Buninyong was held by Labor MP Michaela Settle, who recontested Eureka and retained the seat at the 2022 election. Ballarat
Ballarat ( ) is a city in the Central Highlands (Victoria), Central Highlands of Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. Car dependency is the concept that some city layouts cause cars to be favoured over alternate forms of transportation, such as bicycles, public transit, and walking. Moorabool Wind Farm
Moorabool Wind Farm is an operational wind farm located 25km south east of Ballarat in Victoria, Australia. The wind farm is in two parts. The northern part has 50 turbines and the southern part has 54 turbines. By December 2021, all 104 turbines had been put into place. The turbines each measure 169m to the tip of the blade. Development and purpose The farm is being developed by Goldwind Australia. When operational, it will be one of three wind farms in Moorabool Shire. The others are Yaloak South Wind Farm and Lal Lal Wind Farm. When fully operational, the farm will produce up to 312MW of electricity, enough energy to power approximately 228,000 Victorian homes. WestWind Energy is an Australian company involved in development and operation of wind farms. Its origins were in Germany in the renewable energy sector. It is part of the WestWind Group of companies which has its headquarters in Kirchdorf, Lower Saxony, Germany. WestWind Energy has been involved in several projects in the state of Victoria. It did the early development planning for the Mount Mercer Wind Farm, approx. 30km south of Ballarat before selling the project to Meridian Energy prior construction.
