Mound Township is one of twelve townships in Warren County, Indiana, United States. According to the 2010 census, its population was 418 and it contained 183 housing units. History Mound Township was one of the original four created when the county was organized in 1827. Geography According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , of which (or 98.69%) is land and (or 1.31%) is water. The town of Foster is located just north of U.S. Route 136, about east of the township's southwestern border. Extinct communities in the township include Baltimore, which thrived on the banks of the Wabash River in the early 19th century, and Romine Corner. The streams of Kitchen Creek and Possum Run run through the township. Cemeteries The township contains these three cemeteries: Baltimore, Rodgers and Upper Mound. Covington, Indiana
Covington is a city in, and the county seat of, Fountain County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,645 at the 2010 census. History Fountain County was formed on April 1, 1826. Later that year, the county seat was established at Covington, and a two-story frame courthouse was built in 1827. The location of the county seat was a point of contention for some years, as Covington was not centrally located in the county. In 1831 an act was passed that called for the relocation of the county seat, but after further discussion it was decided that it should remain where it was. Eventually the coming of the railroads helped to alleviate the geographical concern. A brick courthouse was completed in 1833. History Kent Township was created in September 1864 from a section of Mound Township.
