Chiapas is a state in Southwest Mexico. According to the 2020 Mexican Census, it has the eighth largest population of all states with inhabitants and the 10th largest by land area spanning . Tapachula
Tapachula de Córdova y Ordóñez, simply known as Tapachula, is a city and municipality located in the far southeast of the state of Chiapas in Mexico, near the Guatemalan border and the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the most important cities of Chiapas economically as the capital of the agriculturally rich Soconusco region as well as port for trade between Mexico and Central America. The area was originally inhabited by the Mam as a region under the control of the Mam state of Xelaju but was first established as a city by the Aztecs in the 13th century. Most of its economic importance has come since the late 19th century with the establishment of coffee plantations. El Porvenir, Chiapas
El Porvenir (Spanish: "The Future") is a ''municipio'' (municipality) and township in the Mexican state of Chiapas. El Porvenir was given town status with the creation of the municipality on 13 January 1890. The city was formally known as El Porvenir de Velasco Suárez in honour of prominent neurologist Manuel Velasco Suárez, Governor of Chiapas during the period 1970 to 1976, but that nomenclature is now considered obsolete. The town (locality) of El Porvenir is located at an official elevation of 2,839 m (9,314 ft) above mean sea level in the Sierra Madre highlands of Chiapas, at , close to the Guatemalan border. Escuintla () is an industrial city in Guatemala, its land extension is 4384 km², and it is nationally known for its sugar agribusiness. Its capital is a minicipality with the same name.
