Mostyn Dragons F.C. was a Welsh football club based in a small village named Mostyn, Flintshire. They played in the Clwyd League. The club originally started as a junior team, but then later developed a senior side in 2007. They became champions of Clwyd League Division Two and were promoted to division one in 2008–09. The club's home ground is Mostyn Football Pitch, Community Centre, Maes Pennant, Mostyn. In 2014, the club withdrew from the following season and then folded. History Mostyn joined the Clwyd Football League in 2007–08 after being a junior side. That season was an admirable one for the team, finishing mid-table and reaching the final of the Halkyn Cup to finish as runners up. In 2008–09, Mostyn were crowned Division Two champions, losing one game all season and having an unbeaten home record. Mostyn
Mostyn is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales, and electoral ward lying on the estuary of the River Dee, located near the town of Holywell. It has a privately owned port that has in the past had a colliery and ironworks and was involved in the export of commodities, and in present times services the offshore wind industry and ships the wings for the Airbus A380 which are manufactured at Broughton. History Mostyn was mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. Henry Bolingbroke (later Henry IV) landed here in 1399 before attacking Richard II at Flint Castle. Coal was mined at Mostyn Colliery and iron production started in the mid nineteenth century. The combination of a colliery, iron works and the docks made this a profitable enterprise. Nineteen hundred people were employed at one time. The coal eventually became exhausted and the ironworks closed in 1965. The North East Wales League represented the North East Wales area at the fifth tier of the Welsh football league system. It began life in 2011 as the Clwyd East League, and was renamed as the North East Wales League in 2015. It folded in 2020 due a reorganisation of football in the Welsh football pyramid. Clwyd League
The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Football League ( cy, Dyffryn Clwyd & Chonwy) was a football league formed in 2011 following the split of the Clwyd Football League, which itself was formed in 1974 as an amalgamation of the Dyserth and the Halkyn Mountain League. The Premier Division was in the fifth level of the Welsh football league system in North Wales. The league folded in 2020 due to a reorganisation of the Welsh football league pyramid, with many teams joining the North Wales Coast East Football League. The league hosted several cup competitions: The President's Cup, The Premier Cup, The Halkyn Cup and the REM Jones Cup. Its members competed in the FAW Trophy, Barritt Cup and Welsh Cup competitions as well. The Clwyd Football League was a football league formed in 1974 as an amalgamation of the Dyserth League and the Halkyn Mountain League. The top division was at different periods at the second, third and fourth levels of the Welsh football league system in North Wales. The league ran until 2011 when a split led to the formation of the Clwyd East Football League comprising Flintshire teams under the North East Wales Football Association and the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Football League, made up of Denbighshire, Conwy county and Vale of Conwy sides, under the North Wales Coast Football Association. Clwyd () is a preserved counties of Wales, preserved county of Wales, situated in the north-east corner of the country; it is named after the River Clwyd, which runs through the area.
