Moscow Urban Forum
The Moscow Urban Forum (MUF) is an international forum about urbanization issues held in Moscow annually under the auspices of the Government of Moscow. The first MUF was held in 7-9 December 2011, the second took place 4-5 December 2012, and the third in 5-6 December 2013. MUF serves as a platform for open dialogue among representatives of the government, the managers of architectural and urban planning organizations, the real estate industry, the citizens of Moscow and leading foreign and Russian experts on urban planning. The Urban Land Institute is the international partner of MUF. Various world renowned Architects and Urbanists have spoken at the forum, such as Rem Koolhaas, Patrick Schumacher, Jan Gehl, Ken Yeang & Baharash Bagherian. Urban Land Institute
The Urban Land Institute, or ULI, is a nonprofit research and education organization with regional offices in Washington, D.C., Hong Kong, and London. ULI advocates progressive development, conducting research, and education in topics such as sustainability, smart growth, compact development, place making, and workforce housing. Its stated mission is to "shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide". ULI was founded in 1936 as the research arm of the National Association of Realtors and currently has more than 45,000 members, with more than 10% of the members working in government, academia, or public-private partnerships. Remment Lucas Koolhaas (; born 17 November 1944) is a Dutch architect, architectural theorist, urbanist and Professor in Practice of Architecture and Urban Design at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He is often cited as a representative of Deconstructivism and is the author of ''Delirious New York: A Retroactive Manifesto for Manhattan''. Patrik Schumacher
Patrik Schumacher (born 1961, Bonn, Germany) is a London based architect and architectural theorist. He is the principal architect of Zaha Hadid Architects. Education and early career Schumacher studied Philosophy and Mathematics at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Bonn in the early 1980s. In the mid-eighties he studied architecture in Stuttgart and in 1987 continued his architecture study at London Southbank University. In 1988, Schumacher worked in the design studio of Zaha Hadid, on the Vitra Firestation. In 1990, he returned to University of Stuttgart to complete his Diploma in Architecture and then re-joined Hadid. In 1999, he completed a PhD at the Institute of Cultural Science, Klagenfurt University. Jan Gehl Hon. FAIA (born 17 September 1936, Copenhagen) is a Danish architect and urban design consultant based in Copenhagen whose career has focused on improving the quality of urban life by re-orienting city design towards the pedestrian and cyclist. He is a founding partner of Gehl Architects. Biography Gehl received a Masters of Architecture from the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (KADK) in Copenhagen in 1960, and practiced architecture from 1960 to 1966. Ken Yeang
Ken Yeang (6 October 1948) is an architect, ecologist, planner and author from Malaysia, best known for his ecological architecture and ecomasterplans that have a distinctive green aesthetic. He pioneered an ecology-based architecture (since 1971), working on the theory and practice of sustainable design.
