Mosborough
Mosborough is a village in the City of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. Historically part of Derbyshire, the village was named after The Moss river which flows through the village. During the late 19th century and 20th century, the village was noted for its steelmaking, with Hutton & Co. Sickle works being based at nearby Ridgeway. The village expanded and due to developments in nearby Owlthorpe, Westfields and Waterthorpe. Mosborough which was a township at the time was transferred from Derbyshire to the West Riding of Yorkshire as part of Sheffield. The village features a number of schools, including the Mosborough Primary School and Westfield School. Today, much of the village has seen much development in terms of housing, due to its proximity to both the Derbyshire and South Yorkshire border. Mosborough is an electoral ward of the Sheffield, City of Sheffield, England, in the eastern part of the city, on the border with North East Derbyshire, North East Derbyshire District. The population in 2011 was 17,097. It is one of the wards that make up the Sheffield South East (UK Parliament constituency), Sheffield South East constituency. Mosborough Hall
Mosborough Hall is a 17th-century Grade II-listed building in Mosborough, Sheffield, England. The building was originally a manor house in what was then a small village in Derbyshire, however due to population growth over the years the village was incorporated into the city of Sheffield and the hall today is used as a hotel. Westfield School, Sheffield
Westfield School, is a mixed secondary school located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. On 1 December 2018 it joined Chorus Education Trust, a local multi-academy trust founded by Silverdale School in Sheffield. The Moss
The Moss is a brook in North East Derbyshire, England. When Rother Valley Country Park was built in the 1980s, constructors used water from The Moss to fill the lakes. Name The name of the river derives from ''Moss Beck'', which means 'stream through marshy ground'. Course The river flows through the Moss Valley and through the villages of Geerlane, Birley Hay, Ford and Eckington. It passes through several areas of woodland, including Coalpit Wood, Long Wood and Eckington Park. The main tributaries of The Moss are the Robin Brook, the Owler Car Brook, Sickle Brook, Troway Brook, Sloadlane Brook, and Ridgeway Brook. Shire Brook
Shire Brook is a small stream in the south eastern part of the City of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. It rises in the suburb of Gleadless Townend and flows in a general easterly direction for to its confluence with the River Rother between Beighton and Woodhouse Mill. In the past the brook has been both the border of Yorkshire and Derbyshire and between the sees of Canterbury and York. The course of the stream has been influenced by human intervention in the 20th century with the brook being diverted underground and flowing through culverts on three occasions as it traverses locations which were formerly landfill sites and extensive railway sidings. Ridgeway is a village in North East Derbyshire in the county of Derbyshire in England. Location Ridgeway lies just south of the South Yorkshire border, around 5 miles southeast of Sheffield City Centre. The village is surrounded by a number of hamlets and villages with Highlane to the north, Ford, Bramley and Birley Hay to the south, Plumbley and Mosborough to the east and Troway and Geerlane to the west. Eckington, Derbyshire
Eckington is a village and civil parish in North East Derbyshire, England. It is 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Chesterfield and 9 miles (14 km) southeast of Sheffield city centre, on the border with South Yorkshire. It lies on the B6052 and B6056 roads close to the A6135 for Sheffield and Junction 30 of the M1.
