''The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind'' is an open world, open-world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the third installment in the ''The Elder Scrolls, Elder Scrolls'' series, following 1996's ''The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall'', and was released in 2002 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox (console), Xbox. The main story takes place on Vvardenfell, an island in the Dunmer (Dark Elf) province of Morrowind, part of the continent of Tamriel. The central quests concern the demigod Dagoth Ur, housed within the volcanic Red Mountain, who seeks to gain power and break Morrowind free from Imperial reign. OpenMW is a free and open-source game engine recreation that reimplements the one powering Bethesda Softworks' 2002 open-world role-playing game '' The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind''. Overview The project aims to address issues with the original engine, as Morrowind has had no support or bug-fix updates for many years. The OpenMW engine is programmed in C++ and uses the Bullet physics engine, OpenAL-Soft for audio, MyGUI for window widgets, and SDL 2 for input. The launcher and OpenMW-CS tool use Qt for their graphical user interfaces. All the quests and other character choices of ''Morrowind'' and its official expansions and add-ons are fully playable in OpenMW, as are many third-party mods. Todd Andrew Howard (born 1970) is an American video game designer, director, and producer. He serves as director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, where he has led the development of the ''Fallout'' and ''The Elder Scrolls'' series. Early life Todd Andrew Howard was born in 1970 in Lower Macungie Township, Pennsylvania, to Ronald (Ron) and Priscilla Howard. His elder brother, Jeffrey Mark (Jeff) Howard, was later the director of creative affairs for Disney, where he oversaw the production of '' Bambi II''. He developed an interest in computers, particularly video games, at a very young age. Howard considers the 1980s role-playing video games ''Wizardry'' and '' Ultima III: Exodus'' to be inspirations for his future games. Jeremy Soule
Jeremy Soule (; born December 19, 1975) is an American composer of soundtracks for film, television, and video games. He has composed soundtracks for over 60 games and over a dozen other works during his career, including ''The Elder Scrolls'', ''Guild Wars'', ''Icewind Dale'', and the ''Harry Potter'' series. He became an employee of Square in 1994 after several years of private composition studies. After finishing the soundtrack to ''Secret of Evermore'' in 1995, he left to join Humongous Entertainment, where he composed for several children's games as well as ''Total Annihilation'', his first award-winning score. In 2000, he left to form his own music production company, Soule Media, now called Artistry Entertainment.
