Moros Y Cristianos (film)
''Moors and Christians'' ( es, Moros y cristianos, links=no) is a 1987 Spanish comedy film directed by Luis García Berlanga. The cast features Fernando Fernán Gómez, Verónica Forqué, Agustín González, Chus Lampreave, José Luis López Vázquez, Andrés Pajares, María Luisa Ponte, Antonio Resines, Pedro Ruiz and Rosa María Sardá. Plot The Planchadell y Calabuig, a family of turrón-makers from Xixona (province of Alicante), travel to Madrid to sell their product. Once there, they are approached by an image consultant. Cast Production The film had a budget of around 200 million ₧. Filming began in Madrid by May 1987. Release ''Moors and Christians'' premiered on 23 October 1987 at the 32nd Seminci, screened as the opening film of the festival. It was theatrically released in Spain on 28 October 1987. Luis García Berlanga
Luis García-Berlanga Martí (12 June 1921 – 13 November 2010) was a Spain , Spanish film director and screenwriter. Acclaimed as a pioneer of modern Spanish cinema, his films are marked by social satire and acerbic critiques of Spanish culture under the Francoist Spain, Francoist dictatorship. Life and career When he was young, Berlanga decided to study law and then philosophy, but in 1947 he decided to enter the Institute of Cinematographic Investigations and Experiences (Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas) in Madrid. In his youth he enrolled in the Blue Division in the Eastern Front (World War II), Eastern Front of World War II to avoid his father's execution as a Republican politician. Antonio Gómez Rufo professionally known simply as Gómez Rufo (born 1954 in Madrid) is a Spanish writer. Gómez achieved a law degree at the Complutense University of Madrid, he graduated in 1977 and between 1979 and 1983 he worked as a lawyer. Luis Escobar y Kirkpatrick, 7th Marquess of Marismas del Guadalquivir (5 September 1908 – 16 February 1991), was a Spanish nobleman and actor. He was an actor, playwright, and theatre director who advanced the interests of Teatro María Guerrero, Teatro Español, and Teatro Eslava. A flamboyant aristocrat, he was particularly known to have played ''el marqués de Leguineche'' (the Marquess of Leguineche) in Luis García Berlanga's comedy trilogy: La Escopeta Nacional (1978), Patrimonio Nacional (1981) and Nacional III (1982). In 1950, he directed '' La honradez de la cerradura,'' being nominated at the 1951 Cannes Film Festival.
