''Morning Star'' is an American daytime soap opera which aired on NBC from September 27, 1965 to July 1, 1966. The show was created by Ted Corday who would later create the daytime serial ''Days of Our Lives''. The show aired at 11:00 AM; it was paired with ''Paradise Bay'' which aired after it and also was created by Ted Corday. ''Morning Star'' and ''Paradise Bay'' were also cancelled on the same day. ''Morning Star'' was one of the first soap operas to air in color. Ted Corday
Theodore "Ted" Corday (May 8, 1908 – July 23, 1966) was a Canadian-American producer, director and co-creator of soap opera for NBC, most notably the hit series ''Days of Our Lives''. Biography Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Corday graduated from the University of Alberta in 1930 and studied law before moving to the United States in 1934. He served as a Captain in the United States Army. He worked in Broadway for many years before producing dramas for radio, such as ''Tortilla Flat'', ''Tobacco Road'', ''Gangbusters'' and '' Counterspy''. He then moved to television in the 1950s, producing ''Guiding Light'' for a time as well as directing ''As the World Turns'', from its 1956 premiere until 1965. Corday was later lured to NBC to create three new soap operas. The first two, '' Paradise Bay'' and '' Morning Star'', were not successful, but his third NBC serial, ''Days of Our Lives'', was a success, and remains on the air as of 2022. ''Paradise Bay'' is an American serial which aired on NBC Daytime from September 27, 1965, to July 1, 1966. The show was created by Ted Corday who later created the serial ''Days of Our Lives''. ''The Soap Opera Encyclopedia'' is a 1985 reference book by Christopher Schemering which assembles comprehensive information about all daytime and prime time soap operas broadcast up to the date of publication. It was revised and reprinted in 1987 and 1988, but is currently out of print. ''The Soap Opera Encyclopedia'' features commentary, analysis and criticism of "every daytime and prime-time television soap opera broadcast on the three major networks, as well as a selection of syndicated, cable, and foreign efforts." It also discusses background, significant storylines and impact of each program, and lists performers and characters.
