Morina (tribe)
Morina tribe (Albanian: fisi Morinë or fisi Marin) is a small tribe and historical region of the Highlands of Gjakova in Kosovo. The border post between Albania and Kosovo called Qafë Morinë (Morina Pass) lies on Morina territory, however the Morina have settled various parts of Kosovo, in particular Gjakova, Kamenica, Kosovo and Gjilan. Etymology According to an article by Nikoll Kimza in 1937, published in the Hylli i Dritës, called "Hetime mí vjetersín e rrjedhen e Derës Gjomarkaj e të Mirditës", the Morina tribe was also called Marin which leads to believe that the name comes from the same Albanian first name "Marin (name)" of Latin origin meaning "marine; of or pertaining to the sea". Highlands Of Gjakova
The Highlands of Gjakova or Gjakova Highlands ( sq, Malësia e Gjakovës) refers to the mountainous ethnographic region in the eastern Albanian Alps that sits between north-eastern Albania and western Kosovo, serving as the historical centres of the Albanian Gashi, Krasniqi, Bytyqi, Morina, Nikaj and Mërturi tribes. Traditionally, parts of the Gjakova Highlands that are now located in southern Montenegro were used as pasturelands by the local Albanian tribes. Geography The Highlands of Gjakova are bordered by Kosovo's Plain of Dukagjin to the east, the Fierza Lake to the south, the ethnographic Dukagjin Highlands region to the west and the mountains of Plav and Guci to the north. Mario Morina (born 16 October 1992) is an Albanian professional footballer who plays as a forward. Club career Tirana 2010–11 season Morina made his début for Tirana on 3 November 2010 in an Albanian Cup fixture at home against Skrapari. Morina was included in the starting line up, with fellow youngsters Blerti Hajdari and Enco Malindi. Morina played a role in his side's 4–0 win, including an assist for Hajdari, striking the post and winning a penalty, which would be converted by Hajdari.
