Morgan White (radio DJ)
Morgan White (July 25, 1924 – September 2, 2010) was an American radio disc jockey and actor. Early life White was born in Monroe, Utah, attended and graduated from Utah State University, was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Career and film information From 1955 to 1965, White, using the stage name Pogo Poge, was a popular radio DJ at KIMN AM 950 in Denver, hosting the "Coca-Cola Hi-Fi Club" popular with teens and has been described in a 1984 Denver Post column as "Denver’s favorite disc jockey ever". There are conflicting reports about the stage name - whether he hopped a pogo stick from Denver to Boulder or in Utah, but he also embarked on various other more outrageous promotional stunts: sitting atop a flagpole at a used car lot for days, record for sitting on a Ferris Wheel, broadcasting from a snake pit in a Zale's Jewelers store window for two weeks. Monroe, Utah
Monroe is a city in Sevier County, Utah, United States. The population was 2,256 at the 2010 United States Census. Geography Monroe is located in rural central Utah. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.2 km2), all land. Monroe is bordered by mountains on the east and south, and farmers' fields to the west and north. Monroe is home to naturally occurring hot springs with travertine deposits, a result of the Monroe-Red Hill geothermal system found along the Sevier fault. On the east side of town, hot water surfaces at a temperature of 168 °F and a rate of about 200 gallons per minute. A travertine mound has formed, known as the Monroe Mound. This deposit stretches one mile across, 200 yards wide, and a few hundred feet thick. There is another hot water source about a mile north of town called the Red Hill Hot Springs. Jim Hawthorne (DJ)
Jim Hawthorne (November 20, 1918 – November 6, 2007) was an American radio personality and comic actor. He was a disc jockey who was a pioneer of "free form" radio. Hawthorne was born in Victor, Colorado, and began his career at a Denver radio station. He gained national attention for his broadcasts on Pasadena, California, station KXLA in 1947. While in Los Angeles, he also worked in early television and short films. He also issued his own records such as "Turn Your Head, Sweetheart". Hawthorne moved to Hawaii in the late 1960s and developed the popular ''Checkers and Pogo'' children's show, which ran from 1967 to 1982 (long after he passed the role of "Checkers" to other actors). In 1950, he created, produced and starred in the Saturday night coast-to-coast radio program, ''The Hawthorne Thing'', which was the final network radio show to originate in NBC's Hollywood Radio City. At the airing of its last episode, it was the longest-running police drama in American television history and the last scripted primetime show that debuted in the 1960s to leave the air.
