Morgan Phillips (tennis)
Morgan Phillips (born 23 June 1984) is a British tennis coach and former professional male tennis player from Croydon. He reached a peak world ranking of 406 in May 2010. Career 2003 Phillips joined the senior tour. 2006 Phillips beat James Ward at the Spain Futures in the first round. 2009 Phillips came back from a career threatening knee injury to jump 1,441 places in the world rankings to 431, and become the biggest mover in the British men's game in 2009. 2010 Phillips played doubles with the Russian player Evgeny Donskoy at the Seville Challenger, losing in the first round. 2012 Phillips retired from playing with a singles ranking of 581 and a doubles ranking of 1183. 2013 Phillips starts coaching Evgeny Donskoy. Croydon
Croydon is a large town in south London, England, south of Charing Cross. Part of the London Borough of Croydon, a local government district of Greater London. It is one of the largest commercial districts in Greater London, with an extensive shopping district and night-time economy. Evgeny Evgenyevich Donskoy ( rus, Евге́ний Евге́ньевич Донско́й, , ɪ̯ɪvˈɡʲenʲɪɪ̯ dɐnˈskoɪ̯; born 9 May 1990) is a Russian professional tennis player. His career-high ATP singles ranking is world No. 65, achieved on 8 July 2013, after winning five Challenger events throughout the previous year. 2013 Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I
The Europe and Africa Zone is one of the three zones of the regional Davis Cup competition in 2013. In the Europe and Africa Zone there are four different groups in which teams compete against each other to advance to the next group. Winners in Group I advance to the World Group Play-offs, along with losing teams from the World Group first round. Teams who lose their respective ties will compete in the relegation play-offs, with winning teams remaining in Group I, whereas teams who lose their play-offs will be relegated to the Europe/Africa Group II in 2014. Great Britain, Netherlands, Poland and Ukraine won their second-round ties, and competed in the World Group Play-offs in mid-September. James Ward (tennis)
James Ward (born 9 February 1987) is a British former professional tennis player. He is a Davis Cup champion and former British No. 2. He reached the quarterfinals of the 2010 Aegon International and the semifinals of the 2011 Aegon Championships as a wildcard entry. His best Grand Slam performance to date was reaching the third round of Wimbledon in 2015. In February 2009, Ward played what was then, the longest tennis match in history, lasting 6 hrs 40 mins, eventually losing to Chris Eaton. This was a play-off match to decide the Davis Cup team, but it was not sanctioned by the ATP so was not an official record, and it was broken later. Dmitry Igorevich Tursunov (; born 12 December 1982) is a retired Russian tennis player and current tennis coach. At age 12 he moved to the United States to train and further his prospects of becoming a professional player. His career-high singles ranking was world No. 20, achieved in October 2006. Daniel Evans (born 23 May 1990) is a British professional tennis player from England. He has been ranked as high as world No. 22 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), which he achieved on 27 September 2021, and is the current British No. 2 in singles. 1930 International Lawn Tennis Challenge
The 1930 International Lawn Tennis Challenge was the 25th edition of what is now known as the Davis Cup. For the silver anniversary, 24 teams would enter the Europe Zone, while 4 would enter the America Zone. The United States defeated Italy in the Inter-Zonal play-off, but would lose to France in the Challenge Round, giving France their fourth straight title, in the sixth straight Challenge Round matchup between these teams.
