Moongi Conservation Reserve
Conservation reserves of South Australia is a class of protected area used in the Australian state of South Australia where crown land under the control of the responsible minister has been dedicated for conservation purposes. This class of protected area has been in use as early as 1985. In 2016 there were 15 conservation reserves that covered an area of 194.7 square kilometres (75.1 sq mi). the number had increased to 16 conservation reserves covering 193.6 square kilometres (74.73 sq mi) or less than 1% of South Australia's land area. Protected areas or conservation areas are locations which receive protection because of their recognized natural, ecological or cultural values. There are several kinds of protected areas, which vary by level of protection depending on the enabling laws of each country or the regulations of the international organizations involved. Generally speaking though, protected areas are understood to be those in which human presence or at least the exploitation of natural resources (e.g. firewood, non-timber forest products, water, ...) is limited. Flinders Ranges
The Flinders Ranges are the largest mountain range in South Australia, which starts about north of Adelaide. The ranges stretch for over from Port Pirie to Lake Callabonna. The Adnyamathanha people are the Aboriginal group who have inhabited the range for tens of thousands of years. Its most well-known landmark is Wilpena Pound / Ikara, a formation that creates a natural amphitheatre covering and containing the range's highest peak, St Mary Peak (). The ranges include several national parks, the largest being the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, as well as other protected areas. Pinkawillinie, South Australia
Pinkawillinie is a locality in the north of Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. It is a rural grain and grazing area in marginal country near Goyder's Line within the District Council of Kimba. It draws its name from the cadastral Hundred bearing the same name which is mostly included in the modern bounded locality, however the locality includes several other Hundreds and the Pinkawillinie Conservation Park, all within the Kimba region. Settlement in this area was spurred by the completion of the railway line to Port Lincoln, which reached Buckleboo in 1926. A school was approved in 1929. It was originally intended that the residents would build it with assistance of a loan from the Government, however a poor season meant they were unable to proceed, so a portable building was supplied, and a head teacher announced for 1930. Moseley, South Australia
__NOTOC__ Moseley is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the Eyre Peninsula about north-west of the state capital of Adelaide and about north-east of the municipal seat in Kimba. Moseley’s boundaries were created on 6 May 1999 for the “local established name”. On 26 April 2013, land within the Lake Gilles Conservation Park was removed from Moseley and added to the new locality of Lake Gilles to ensure that all of the conservation park was within the locality of the same name. Land use within the locality is ’primary production’ with exception to land on its western boundary dedicated as the protected area, the Mootra Conservation Reserve, land in its centre used for the Kimba Aerodrome and land in its south-western corner which has been zoned for use for bulk handling. Sherwood, South Australia
__NOTOC__ Sherwood is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located about south-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about north-west of the municipal seat of Bordertown. Boundaries for the locality were created on 16 March 2000 for the “long established name.” Sherwood is served by Emu Flat Road which passes through the locality from the Ngarkat Highway in the east where the highway forms the locality’s eastern boundary to Keith in the west where the road terminates in the Keith town centre. The principal land use in the locality is primary production. A parcel of land at its eastern boundary has protected area status as the Hardings Springs Conservation Reserve. Desert Camp Conservation Park
__NOTOC__ Desert Camp Conservation Park (formerly Desert Camp National Parks Reserve and Desert Camp National Park) is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's Limestone Coast region in the gazetted locality of Marcollat about south of the town centre in Keith. The conservation park occupies land in sections 87 and 105 of the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Marcollat on the northern side of Rowney Road which is also known as the Kingston - Keith road. The land originally gained protected area status on 27 July 1967, when section 87 was gazetted under the ''National Parks Act 1966'' as the ''Desert Camp National Park''. Its name was amended to ''Desert Camp National Parks Reserve'' on 9 November 1967. Naracoorte, South Australia
Naracoorte is a town in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, approximately 336 kilometres south-east of Adelaide and 100 kilometres north of Mount Gambier on the Riddoch Highway (A66). History Before the colonisation of South Australia in 1836, the land now occupied by the town of Naracoorte was situated on the border of lands occuped by the Bindjali people to the east and Ngarrindjeri to the east. Desert Camp Conservation Reserve
__NOTOC__ Desert Camp Conservation Reserve is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's Limestone Coast in the gazetted locality of Marcollat about south of the town centre in Keith. It is classified as an IUCN Category VI protected area. The reserve occupies crown land in section 55 of the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Marcollat on the eastern side of the Riddoch Highway which runs from Keith in the north to Naracoorte in the south. Cunyarie, South Australia
Cunyarie is a locality on northern Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The Hundred of Cunyarie was proclaimed in 1922 and the town was surveyed in November 1927. Land was released, surveyed and apportioned on an application basis, with the latest sections being surveyed as late as the 1960s and 1970s. However, the limiting factor for early settlers was the availability of water, and allocations were generally preferentially selected around rare rocky outcrops or uplands which could afford some opportunities for increased runoff into earthen dams. Indeed, access to water was a critical factor in European settlement of Eyre Peninsula. Settlement in the area was spurred by the completion of the railway line to Port Lincoln, which reached Buckleboo (the next town on from Cunyarie, and end of the line) in 1926. Cox Scrub Conservation Park (formerly Cox's Scrub National Park) is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the gazetted localities of Ashbourne and Nangkita about south of the state capital of Adelaide. The conservation park consists of land in sections 1972 and 1979 to 1985 in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Kondoparinga.
