Desert Camp Conservation Park
__NOTOC__ Desert Camp Conservation Park (formerly Desert Camp National Parks Reserve and Desert Camp National Park) is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's Limestone Coast region in the gazetted locality of Marcollat about south of the town centre in Keith. The conservation park occupies land in sections 87 and 105 of the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Marcollat on the northern side of Rowney Road which is also known as the Kingston - Keith road. The land originally gained protected area status on 27 July 1967, when section 87 was gazetted under the ''National Parks Act 1966'' as the ''Desert Camp National Park''. Its name was amended to ''Desert Camp National Parks Reserve'' on 9 November 1967. __NOTOC__ Marcollat is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state’s Limestone Coast region about south-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about north of the municipal seat in Kingston SE. Boundaries were created in December 1998 for “the long established name” which is derived from the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Marcollat. Marcollat is located entirely within the Hundred of Marcollat with the hundred’s south-west corner including part of the adjoining locality of Keilira. The locality is served by the following roads - the Riddoch Highway which passes through the locality’s north-west corner from the north-west to the south-east en route to the regional centre of Mount Gambier and Rowney Road, described as a “secondary arterial road”, which passes from the north-east to the south-west en route to Kingston SE. ''Xanthorrhoea australis'', the grass tree, austral grasstree or blackboy, is an Australia, Australian plant. It is the most commonly seen species of the genus ''Xanthorrhoea''. Its trunk can grow up to several metres tall and is often branched. In certain Aboriginal languages, it is called ''bukkup'', ''baggup'' or ''kawee''.
