Monument To Nizami Ganjavi In Rome
The Monument to Nizami Ganjavi ( it, Monumento a Nizami Ganjavi), the medieval Persian poet, is located in the capital of Italy, Rome, in Villa Borghese gardens, on Viale Madama Letizia Street ( it, Viale Madama Letizia). People's Artists of Azerbaijan, Salhab Mammadov and Ali Ibadullayev are the authors of the monument. The project was approved by The Commission on History and Arts of Rome. Opening of the monument Opening ceremony of the monument was held on April 20, 2012 by the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and participation of Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy according to the direction of Azerbaijani president on June 23, 2011 “About holding the 870th anniversary of great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi”. Villa Borghese Gardens
Villa Borghese is a landscape garden in Rome, containing a number of buildings, museums (see Galleria Borghese) and attractions. It is the third largest public park in Rome (80 hectares or 197.7 acres) after the ones of the Villa Doria Pamphili and Villa Ada. The gardens were developed for the Galleria Borghese, Villa Borghese Pinciana ("Borghese villa on the Pincian Hill"), built by the architect Flaminio Ponzio, developing sketches by Scipione Borghese, who used it as a ''villa suburbana'', or party villa, at the edge of Rome, and to house his art collection. The gardens as they are now were remade in the late 18th century. People's Artist of Azerbaijan ( Azerbaijani: ''Xalq rəssamı'') is the honorary title and award granted for contribution to the development of Azerbaijani culture. History The People's Artists of the Azerbaijan SSR (1931–1990) was a precursor award given during the time of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union. In May 22, 1998, the honorary title "People's Artist of Azerbaijan" was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, along with some other titles. The President of Azerbaijan confers the honorary title on his initiative, as well as on the proposal of the National Assembly and the Cabinet of Ministers. Salhab Isa oghlu Mammadov ( az, Səlhab İsa oğlu Məmmədov, born January 4, 1943) is an Azerbaijani sculptor-painter, vice-rector of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts, first deputy chairman of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, professor, People's Artist of Azerbaijan (2006). Biography Salhab Mammadov was born on January 4, 1943, in Shaki, Azerbaijan, Nukha. In 1962–1968, he studied at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. The artist has been a member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan since 1970, the responsible secretary of the Union in 1982–1988, and its secretary since 1993.
