Monty Oxymoron
Monty Oxymoron (born Laurence Burrow, 27 September 1961 in Cambridge, England) is a keyboardist for the English punk rock group the Damned. Biography His previous bands include Punk Floyd and Dr. Spacetoad Experience, with Captain Sensible. He released a few solo projects in the 1980s and 2000s. He joined the Damned in early 1996 and continues to tour and record with them. Monty also works as keyboardist and percussionist with the Sumerian Kyngs and as keyboardist with Tim Burness. He has spoken of love of psychedelic music, whose influence he claims to have heard in pre-Oxymoron Damned albums beginning with 1979's ''Machine Gun Etiquette''. In 2007, along with Damned bandmate Sensible, he attended a memorial to Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett. In the 1980s, he trained as a psychiatric nurse and has worked as a nurse part time since then. Michael John Moorcock (born 18 December 1939) is an English writer, best-known for science fiction and fantasy, who has published a number of well-received literary novels as well as comic thrillers, graphic novels and non-fiction. He has worked as an editor and is also a successful musician. He is best known for his novels about the character Elric of Melniboné, a seminal influence on the field of fantasy since the 1960s and '70s. Spirits Burning is a musical collective that features musicians associated with space rock and progressive rock, including input from members of Blue Öyster Cult, Clearlight, Gong, and Hawkwind. Octopus (Syd Barrett Song)
"Octopus" (originally recorded as "Clowns and Jugglers" and also known as "The Madcap Laughs") is a song by Syd Barrett. In January 1970 it appeared on his first solo album ''The Madcap Laughs''. Writing Barrett reflected on the song's writing: "Octopus" directly quotes a section from "Rilloby-Rill" by English poet Sir Henry Newbolt (1862–1938). The song also features a variety of other influences. Recording Syd Barrett left Pink Floyd in April 1968, along with their manager Peter Jenner. Jenner led Barrett into EMI Studios to record some tracks in May, that would later be released on Barrett's first solo album. ''Mojo'' is a popular music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom, initially by Emap, and since January 2008 by Bauer. Following the success of the magazine '' Q'', publishers Emap were looking for a title that would cater for the burgeoning interest in classic rock music. The magazine was designed to appeal to the 30 to 45-plus age group, or the baby boomer generation. ''Mojo'' was first published on 15 October 1993. Never Never Land (Pink Fairies Album)
''Never Never Land'' is the 1971 debut album by the UK underground group Pink Fairies. Polydor Records commissioned the group to record a single, "The Snake"/"Do It", and were happy enough with the results to offer the group an album contract. A promotional film was recorded for the single on the set of ''Oliver!'', but the single was omitted from this debut album. The b-side, "Do It", did appear but with added overdubs. "Do It" was later covered by the Henry Rollins Band on their ''Do It'' album. The sleeve came in a printed PVC cover, with an inner gatefold sleeve depicting two different scenescapes, and a printed inner sleeve with a photograph of the band. 200 copies were also pressed on pink vinyl the same year. Initial pressings properly credited the full band as songwriters on all songs. ''The Rockfield Files'' is a four-track EP by English rock band the Damned, released on 16 October 2020. It was released by London-based label Search and Destroy in a joint venture with Spinefarm Records. The EP marks the last recording with longtime drummer Pinch, who left the band in late 2019. The title is a reference to the 1970s American television series ''The Rockford Files''. Background In 2019, the Damned returned to Rockfield Studios in Wales, where they had recorded their early 1980s albums '' The Black Album'' and ''Strawberries'' as well as the ''Friday 13th EP''.
