Montreal Blitz
The Montreal Blitz is a women's gridiron football team, founded in 2001, which plays Canadian football in the Central Canadian Women's Football League. Previously, the team played American football in the Independent Women's Football League (2001–2016) and in the Women's Football Alliance (in 2017). They are based at Dalbé-Viau High School in the borough of Lachine, in Montreal, Quebec. The Blitz were the only Canadian team in a women's American football league. The team won four championships in the IWFL, at various levels. Their highest achievement came in 2012, when they beat the Sacramento Sirens 28–27 to become World Champions of the IWFL. Independent Women's Football League
The Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) was the first Women's American football league established by women players for women players. The league was founded in 2000, began play in 2001, and played its last season in 2018. Members of the original roster of the Austin Outlaws were the league's founders. Following the establishment of the league as a separate entity from the team, former outlaws players Laurie Frederick, Jaime Bailey and Sandra Plato became the original IWFL executive council. Women's Football Alliance
The Women's Football Alliance (WFA) is a professional full-contact Women's American football tackle minor league that began play in 2009. It is the largest 11-on-11 football league for women in the world, and the longest running active women's football league in the U.S. Since 2016, the league has operated with three competitive levels: Pro, Division 2 and Division 3. The league is owned and operated by Jeff King and Lisa Gibbons King of Exeter, California. Lisa King is also a wide receiver for the WFA's, Los Angeles Warriors. In addition to operating annual national championship seasons in the United States, the league also operates the WFA International Program which organizes international competitions for its own Team United and Team World against each other and all-star teams from other nations. Central Canadian Women's Football League
The Central Canadian Women's Football League (CCWFL) is a full-contact Canadian football league supported by Football Quebec and Football Ontario. Originally founded in 2014, the league played its first season in 2022. It thus became the third cross-province league for women's football in Canada, alongside the Western Women's Canadian Football League and the Maritime Women's Football League. Lachine, Quebec
Lachine () is a borough (''arrondissement'') within the city of Montreal on the Island of Montreal in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It was an autonomous city until the municipal mergers in 2002. The Sacramento Sirens are a women's semi-professional American football team, located in Sacramento, California. The team has compiled one of the most successful records in women's full tackle football. History In 2001, their first year of existence, the Sirens won the divisional title and advanced to the playoffs of the Women's American Football League. In 2002 the Sirens took the league title in the championship game against the Arizona Caliente. Saadia Ashraf
Saadia Ashraf is an American football coach for Team Canada, Team Quebec, and the Montreal Blitz Football Organizations. She is also a former championship quarterback of Canada women's national American football team, Team Canada, Team Quebec and the Montreal Blitz. She has a Bachelor of Education degree in Physical Education from McGill University, and works as a high school teacher in Montreal. She also actively coaches youth girls and boys flag football in the high school GMAA/RSEQ league.
