Montgomeryshire Collections
''Montgomeryshire Collections'' (Welsh: ''Casgliadau Maldwyn'') is the annual journal of the Powysland Club, containing scholarly articles on archaeological and historical topics relating to Powys, book reviews, and society notes. It was first published under the title ''Collections Historical & Archaeological relating to Montgomeryshire'', 1868 (vol. 1) – 1942 (vol. 47); it then changed its name to ''Montgomeryshire Collections: relating to Montgomeryshire and its borders'', 1943 (vol. 48) – present. The journal has been digitised by the Welsh Journals Online project at the National Library of Wales. Welsh Language
Welsh ( or ) is a Celtic language family, Celtic language of the Brittonic languages, Brittonic subgroup that is native to the Welsh people. Welsh is spoken natively in Wales, by some in England, and in Y Wladfa (the Welsh colony in Chubut Province, Argentina). Historically, it has also been known in English as "British", "Cambrian", "Cambric" and "Cymric". The Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 gave the Welsh language official status in Wales. Both the Welsh and English languages are ''de jure'' official languages of the Welsh Parliament, the Senedd. Powysland Club
The Powysland Club is a historical society for the county of Montgomeryshire, Wales. It was founded in 1867. Among the society's members was Elias Owen, the antiquarian who served as a committee member and published articles in the club's journal, ''The Montgomeryshire Collections'' between 1871 and 1899. Members of the club founded the first Powysland Museum in 1874. It holds several annual educational lectures and excursions to sites of historical interest. The club also publishes an annual journal, Montgomeryshire Collections.
