Monteu Da Po
Monteu da Po is a small ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, Italy, 32 km north-east of Turin. History Monteu da Po was an ancient settlement of the Ligures. Its pre-Roman name, which appears on inscriptions of the early imperial period, was Bodincomagus from the Ligurian name of the Po, ''Bodincus'', which meant "bottomless".Pliny, ''Hist. Nat.'' iii. 122 It stood on the right bank of the river, which has since changed its course and runs now a kilometre to the north of the town. In Roman times this became the flourishing colonia Industria of the Augustan Regio IX, enrolled in the ''tribus Pollia''. Its importance derived from its location on the road which followed the Po from Augusta Taurinorum to Vardagate. The Metropolitan City of Turin ( it, Città metropolitana di Torino, Piedmontese: ''Sità metropolitan-a 'd Turin'') is a metropolitan city in the Piedmont region, Italy. The Ligures (singular Ligur; Italian: liguri; English: Ligurians) were an ancient people after whom Liguria, a region of present-day north-western Italy, is named. Ancient Liguria corresponded more or less to the current Italian region of Liguria. However, this region was much larger than today's borders. A Roman (plural ) was originally a Roman outpost established in conquered territory to secure it. Eventually, however, the term came to denote the highest status of a Roman city. Vardagate
Casale Monferrato () is a town in the Piedmont region of Italy, in the province of Alessandria. It is situated about east of Turin on the right bank of the Po, where the river runs at the foot of the Montferrat hills. Beyond the river lies the vast plain of the Po valley. An ancient Roman ''municipium'', the town has been the most important trade and manufacturing centre of the area for centuries. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Casale became a free municipality and, in the 15th and early 16th centuries, served as the capital of the House of Palaiologos.
