Monte Di Pietà, Naples
The Palazzo of Monte di Pietà is a historic building located along the lower decumanus (East-West road) of Naples, Italy. The lower decumanus is also known as Spaccanapoli street. It housed the Mount of Piety or Christian bank in Naples. History The Monte di Pietà was founded in 1539, after Emperor Charles V issued an edict to expel the Jews devoted to usury. Medieval Christians were prohibited by the church from lending money at a profit, although this injunction was often ignored in the commercial centers of the peninsula. In response to the 1539 edict, some aristocratic Neapolitans (Aurelio Paparo, Gian Domenico di Lega, and Leonardo Palma) created a non-profit organization to lend money. In 1574, the merchant Bernardino Rota left in his will a sum of five hundred ducats to Monte di Pietà. Decumanus Maximus
In Roman urban planning, a decumanus was an east–west-oriented road in a Roman city or castrum (military camp). The main decumanus of a particular city was the Decumanus Maximus, or most often simply "the Decumanus". In the rectangular street grid of the typical Roman city plan, the decumanus was crossed by the perpendicular cardo, a north–south street. In a military camp, the decumanus connected the Porta Praetoria (closest to the enemy) to the Porta Decumana (away from the enemy). In the center – called '' groma'' – of a city or castrum, the Decumanus Maximus crossed the perpendicular ''Cardo Maximus'', the primary north–south road. Doric Order
The Doric order was one of the three orders of ancient Greek and later Roman architecture; the other two canonical orders were the Ionic and the Corinthian. The Doric is most easily recognized by the simple circular capitals at the top of columns. Originating in the western Doric region of Greece, it is the earliest and, in its essence, the simplest of the orders, though still with complex details in the entablature above. Ippolito Borghese
Ippolito Borghese (late 16th century – March 1627) was an Italian painter of the late-Renaissance, born in Sigillo (near Perugia). His training was probably in Rome, where he became a follower of Scipione Pulzone and was influenced by the painterly traditions of Federigo Barocci. He then moved to Naples. He was influenced by the circle of Mannerist artists active in the Rome of Sixtus V. In 1598 he completed a ''St. George and the dragon'' for the Duomo of Ischia. In 1601 he signed a canvas in Carpignano Salentino. He painted a ''Madonna & saints'' (1601) for the church of Santa Maria della Grotta in Carpignano. In 1603, he painted an ''Assumption of the Virgin'' for the Chapel of the Palace of Monte di Pietà in Naples.

Belisario Corenzio
Belisario Corenzio ( el, Βελισσάριος Κορένσιος 1558–1646) was a Greek-Italian painter, active in Venice and Naples. He is one of few Greek painters that did not belong to the Cretan Renaissance like his contemporaries of the time. He escaped the maniera greca completely. He adopted the Venetian style. Other similar Greek painters were Marco Basaiti, Ioannis Permeniates, Antonio Vassilacchi and El Greco. He was sometimes referred to as Il Greco. His teacher was prominent Venetian painter Tintoretto. In 1590, at age 32 Corenzio settled in Naples. Corenzio was influenced by Cavalier d'Arpino. He continued to flourish in the region. His apprentices included: Luigi Rodriguez, Andrea di Leone, Onofrio De Lione and Massimo Stanzione. Corenzio painted many frescos that survived today.
