''Monsieur'' is a 1990 comedy film based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Jean-Philippe Toussaint. It was directed by the novel's author and produced by Pascal Judelewicz and Anne-Dominique Toussaint. The film starred Dominic Gould, Wojciech Pszoniak, and Eva Ionesco. Jean-Philippe Toussaint
Jean-Philippe Toussaint (29 November 1957, Brussels) is a Belgian novelist, photographer and filmmaker. His books have been translated into more than twenty languages and he has had his photographs displayed in Brussels and Japan. Toussaint won the Prix Médicis in 2005 for his novel ''Fuir'' (''Running Away''), second volume of the « Cycle of Marie », a four-tome chronicle published over ten years and displaying the separation of Marie and her lover. His 2009 novel ''La Vérité sur Marie'' (''The Truth about Marie''), third volume of the cycle, won the Prix Décembre. Wojciech Pszoniak
Wojciech Zygmunt Pszoniak (2 May 1942 – 19 October 2020) was a Polish film and theatre actor. Biography and career Pszoniak was born in Lwów, Nazi occupied Poland, now in Ukraine. He gained international visibility following Andrzej Wajda's 1975 film ''The Promised Land (1975 film), The Promised Land'', in which he played Moritz, one of the three main characters. The actor left Poland during the period of political unrest in 1980–81, when the Solidarity (Polish trade union), Solidarity trade union began and was ended by the imposition of martial law in Poland, martial law on 13 December 1981. Pszoniak found roles in France, where he was living and working. After the fall of communism in Eastern Europe in 1989, Pszoniak appeared in Polish movies and plays. Eva Ionesco (born 18 July 1965) is a French actress, film director and screenwriter. She is the daughter of Romanian-French photographer Irina Ionesco and came to international prominence as a child model after being featured in her mother's works. Early life Ionesco was born to photographer Irina Ionesco, a Frenchwoman of Romanian descent, who had a relationship with a Hungarian man who worked in the military. Prior to Ionesco's birth, her mother had worked as a contortionist as she had come from a family of circus performers on her maternal side.
