Franz Mone (12 May 1796, in Mingolsheim near Bruchsal, Baden – 12 March 1871, in Karlsruhe) was a historian and archaeologist. He attended the gymnasium at Bruchsal and in 1814 entered Heidelberg University, where in 1817 he was appointed a lecturer (''privatdozent'') in history, in 1818 a secretary at the university library, in 1819 an associate professor, in 1822 a full professor, and in 1825 head of the university library. From 1827 to 1831 he was a professor at the Catholic University of Leuven. John Aloysius Mone (22 June 1929 – 14 October 2016) was the third Roman Catholic Bishop of Paisley. Early life John Mone was fourth of the six children of Arthur Mone and Elizabeth Dunn. Born in Glasgow, he was raised in the Crosshill district. Priesthood After studies with the Sulpicians at Issy-les-Moulineaux, France and at the rue du Regard and the Institut Catholique in Paris he was ordained to the priesthood on 12 June 1952. Miriam Mone (20 February 1965 – 22 February 2007) was an Irish fashion designer. Mone was born and raised near Loughgall County Armagh, Northern Ireland. At an early age, she became determined to pursue a career in fashion, mastering pattern making and sewing machine use by the age of eight. She was accepted into Foundation Art at Preston Polytechnic in Lancashire , studying there from 1983-1984. Robert Francis Mone (born 1948) is a Scottish double murderer who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1977. In 1967 he shot a teacher at his old school, and in 1976 he and another man escaped from the State Hospital, Carstairs, killing three people in the process. He is Scotland's longest-serving prisoner.
