Monduran is a rural locality in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Monduran had a population of 91 people. Geography Lake Monduran forms much of the western boundary of the locality. The lake is the impoundment of the Kolan River by the Fred Haigh Dam (also known as the Monduran Dam). The river flows from the dam in the west of the locality through the locality to the east, where then forms the boundary between neighbouring localities Bucca and Damascus. The Bruce Highway passes from east to west through the south part of the locality. Monduran Dam Road connects the highway to the dam wall. There are two large areas of the Monduran State Forest in the locality, one area beside Lake Monduran and the other near the boundary with neighbouring Abbotsford. The most northerly part of the locality is in the Littabella National Park which extends into neighbouring Rosedale and Waterloo. History The dam was built to create a more reliable water supply for the sugarcane industry, as rainfall is not always reliable and underground water supplies were dwindling. Construction began on Saturday 13 November 1971 with a ceremony in which, Reg Swartz, Minister for National Development, initiated an explosion which blasted away tons of rock at the site and then unveiled a commemorative plaque. Rosedale is a rural town and locality split between the Gladstone Region and the Bundaberg Region in central Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Rosedale had a population of 438 people. Geography The town is north of the state capital Brisbane and north west of the regional centre of Bundaberg. The town is on the North Coast railway line. Most of the locality is in the Gladstone Region but a small southern part on the shores of Lake Monduran is in the Bundaberg Region. Despite the town itself being in the Gladstone Region local government area, Rosedale is closer to Bundaberg than Gladstone. Kolan River
The Kolan River is a river located in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia. The river rises in the Bobby Range, below the Dawes Range in the north-east, and the Burnett Range in the south-west. The river flows generally south and then east towards the settlement of Toweran where the Bruce Highway crosses the river. From this point the river flows south by east and enters Lake Monduran, formed in 1978 by the damming of the river in order to mitigate severe flooding in the river's lower reaches. The river then flows east and then finally north by east and reaches its mouth north of . The Kolan River is joined by nineteen tributaries including the main tributary, Gin-Gin Creek, a watercourse that is long. The lower reaches of the river are surrounded by sugar cane fields.
