Moncayo
Moncayo is a 15 km long and about 7 km wide mountain chain giving name to the Tarazona y el Moncayo Comarcas of Aragon, comarca, Aragon, Spain. The Moncayo's highest summit, San Miguel (), is the highest point in the 500 km long Sistema Ibérico. The Moncayo is located between the provinces of province of Zaragoza, Zaragoza in Aragon and province of Soria, Soria in Castile and León. The ridge's highest summits are usually covered in snow between October and May every year. Description Besides the San Miguel, the Moncayo massif includes two other peaks that are almost identical and are located close together, Cerro San Juan (2,283 m) and Peña Lobera (2226 m). This mountain was mentioned as ''Mons Caius'' by Martial, Marcus Valerius Martialis in Ancient Roman times. Sistema Ibérico
The Iberian System ( es, Sistema Ibérico, ) is one of the major systems of mountain ranges in Spain. It consists of a vast and complex area of mostly relatively high and rugged mountain chains and massifs located in the central region of the Iberian Peninsula, but reaching almost the Mediterranean coast in the Valencian Community in the east. The system is hydrographically important, as it separates the watersheds of most of the major rivers in Spain and Portugal, including the Ebro basin from the basins of the Douro, Tagus, Guadiana (Záncara- Gigüela), Júcar and Turia. There are important mining areas in some of the ranges such as Sierra Menera, Sierra de Arcos and Sierra de San Just, making the system one of the chief mining regions in Spain since ancient times. Tarazona
Tarazona is a town and municipality in the Tarazona y el Moncayo comarca, province of Zaragoza, in Aragon, Spain. It is the capital of the Tarazona y el Moncayo Aragonese comarca. It is also the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tarazona. History During the Roman era, Tarazona was a prosperous city whose inhabitants were full Roman citizens; it was known as ''Turiaso''. The city declined after the fall of the Roman Empire, and later became a Muslim town in the 8th century. It was conquered in 1119 by Alfonso I of Aragon and became the seat of the diocese of Tarazona.
