Monaco In The Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Monaco chose its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in an internal selection by national broadcaster, Télé Monte Carlo. Séverine Ferrer was chosen to represent the principality with the song "La Coco-Dance", written and composed by J. Woodfeel and Iren Bo and choreographed by Bruno Vandelli. As of 2023, this was Monaco's last entry in the contest, before the country withdrew the following year. The absence has continued in every edition since. Before Eurovision Internal selection TMC announced in December 2005 that the Monégasque entry for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest would be selected internally after the broadcaster received proposals from record companies. Séverine Ferrer
Séverine Ferrer (born 31 October 1977) is a French singer. Biography Ferrer was born in Montpellier and grew up on the island of Réunion. In 1991, Ferrer and her family moved to Paris. She began her career by appearing in television series. In 2004, Ferrer released a new album and a clothing line for pregnant women. Ferrer represented the principality of Monaco with the song ''"La coco-dance"'', at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 but failed to pass through the semi-finals. Eurovision Song Contest 2006
The Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was the 51st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Athens, Greece, following the country's victory at the with the song "My Number One" by Helena Paparizou. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), the contest was held at the Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall, and consisted of a semi-final on 18 May, and a final on 20 May 2006. The two live shows were presented by American television personality Maria Menounos and Greek former contestant Sakis Rouvas. Thirty-seven countries participated in the contest. TMC (; originally short for Télé Monte-Carlo) is a Franco– Monégasque general entertainment television channel, owned by the French media holding company Groupe TF1. Cyprus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Why Angels Cry" written by Peter Yiannakis. The song was performed by Annet Artani. The Cypriot broadcaster Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) organised the national final ''A Song for Europe'' in order to select the Cypriot entry for the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. The national final featured 20 entries and consisted of two semi-finals and a final, resulting in the selection of Annet Artani with "Why Angels Cry" at the final on 22 February 2008. Cyprus competed in the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 18 May 2006. Macedonia (officially under the provisional appellation "former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", abbreviated "FYR Macedonia") participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Ninanajna" written by Darko Dimitrov and Rade Vrčakovski. The song was performed by Elena Risteska. The Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) organised the national final ''Specialen Evroviziski Den'' in order to select the Macedonian entry for the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. Twenty entries competed in the competition on 4 March 2006 where "Ninanajna" performed by Elena Risteska was selected exclusively by a public televote, receiving 6,999 votes. Monaco has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 24 times since its debut in . The country's only win in the contest came in when Séverine performed "Un banc, un arbre, une rue". As a result, Monaco was expected to host the contest in , but declined. As of , Monaco is the only microstate which has won the contest.
