Mon State Hluttaw
Mon State Hluttaw ( my, မွန်ပြည်နယ်လွှတ်တော်) is the legislature of the Burmese state of Mon State. It is a unicameral body, consisting of 31 members, including 23 elected members and 7 military representatives. As of February 2016, the Hluttaw was led by speaker Tin Ei of the National League for Democracy (NLD). In 2015 general election, the National League for Democracy (NLD) won the most contested seats in the legislature. Mawlamyine
Mawlamyine (also spelled Mawlamyaing; , ; th, เมาะลำเลิง ; mnw, မတ်မလီု, ), formerly Moulmein, is the fourth-largest city in Myanmar (Burma), ''World Gazetteer'' south east of Yangon and south of Thaton, at the mouth of Thanlwin (Salween) River. The first capital of British Burma, the city is currently the capital and largest city of Mon State and the main trading centre and seaport in south eastern Myanmar. Etymology and legend The Mon name which was previously used for Mawlamyine, ''Moulmein'' (; ) means "damaged eye" or "one-eyed man." According to legend, a Mon king had a powerful third eye in the centre of his forehead, able to see what was happening in neighbouring kingdoms. The daughter of one of the neighbouring kings was given in marriage to the three-eyed king and managed to destroy the third eye. Mon State
Mon State ( my, မွန်ပြည်နယ်, ; mnw, တွဵုရးဍုင်မန်, italics=no) is an administrative division of Myanmar. It lies between Kayin State to the east, the Andaman Sea to the west, Bago Region to the north and Tanintharyi Region to the south, also having a short border with Thailand's Kanchanaburi Province at its south-eastern tip. The land area is . The Dawna Range, running along the eastern side of the state in a NNW–SSE direction, forms a natural border with Kayin State. Mon State includes some small islands, such as Kalegauk, Wa Kyun and Kyungyi Island, along its of coastline. The state's capital is Mawlamyine. Aye Zan
Aye Zan ( my, အေးဇံ; born 4 April 1954) is a Burmese politician. He served as chief minister for Mon State from 1 March 2017 to 1 February 2021. Early life and education Aye Zan is an ethnic Mon and he was born on 4 April 1954 in Mudon, Mon State. He graduated from University of Medicine 2, Yangon with medical degree in 1979. Political career Aye Zan is a member of National League for Democracy's central executive committee. He is also chairman of Kyaikto Township' National League for Democracy party (NLD). He led Kyaikto Township's NLD party since 1988. He won a seat in the 1990 election, but was never allowed to assume his seat. In 2015 Myanmar general election, he was elected as a Mon State Hluttaw MP for Kyaikto Township No.2 constituency. Min Min Oo ( my, မင်းမင်းဦး) is a Burmese politician and electrical engineer who served as Chief Minister of Mon State from 30 March 2016 to 23 February 2017. Early life He was a student leader during the 1988 student uprising. He is the vice chair of the NLD office in Bilin Township, where he won a seat in the state parliament. He is also head of finance for Bilin Township's rubber plantation association, and a member of Taungzone Hospital's administrative committee.
