Moldova In The Eurovision Song Contest 2017
Moldova participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song " Hey Mamma" written by Anton Ragoza, Sergei Ialovitski, Sergey Stepanov, Mihail Cebotarenco and Alina Galetskaya. The song was performed by the group SunStroke Project. The Moldovan broadcaster TeleRadio-Moldova (TRM) organised the national final ''O melodie pentru Europa 2017'' in order to select the Moldovan entry for the 2016 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. 40 entries competed to represent Moldova in Kyiv, with 14 being shortlisted to participate in the televised national final after auditioning in front of a jury panel. After a semi-final and final which took place on 24 and 25 February 2017, "Hey Mamma" performed by SunStroke Project emerged as the winner after gaining the most points following the combination of votes from a jury panel and a public televote. SunStroke Project
SunStroke Project is a Moldovan musical duo composed of Sergei Yalovitsky (vocals, composer) and Sergey Stepanov (saxophonist). They achieved fame for representing Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with Olia Tira, and again in the 2017 contest. The duo was originally formed as a trio, including both current members in addition to Anton Ragoza. The name of the group was chosen by Ragoza whilst working in the army with Sergey Stepanov, after he had an incident in which he was affected by heat stroke whilst on a field exercise. On 25 February 2017, SunStroke Project was selected once more to represent Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song " Hey, Mamma!", and finished in third place after qualifying for the final on 9 May. In 2019, due to unreasonable disagreements, Anton Ragoza ceased to be part of the group. Sunstroke Project has continued as a duo. DoReDoS is a Moldovan trio from Rîbnița, Transnistria. The group consists of Marina Djundyet, Eugeniu Andrianov and Sergiu Mîța. They represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, with the song " My Lucky Day". They had previously attempted to represent Moldova at Eurovision in 2015 and 2016. Geta Burlacu
Geta Burlacu (, born Georgeta Povorozniuc on 22 July 1974) is a Moldovan singer. She represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "A Century of Love” written by Vica Demici and Oleg Baraliuc. Career Burlacu began singing at age of seven. She studied violin at the music school in Bălți and graduated from the College of Music in Balti as a violinist. In 1993 she went to the Academy of Music in Chisinau to study jazz and folk music. Anatol Chiriac is a Moldovan composer. Biography Born in 1953. In 1979 he completed Stefan Neaga music college in Chişinău. In 1983 he recorded his first instrumental works LP, which has strong influence of James Last (e. g. use of panflute and others).
